Yeah it was up there. I might put Garcia Band Rochester '91, Dead Albany '93, or Dead Boston Gahden '94 higher on the fun experience list, but I'll be damned if I hadn't needed something like Fare Thee Well for about 20 years.
 - Lexington Flyer
I was at Fare Thee Well..only Jul 5th...I wasn't going to go, but after catching a glimpse of the preceding Santa Clara shows, I was like "how am I not going to this!" Made last minute arrangements with a good friend and flew out of Philly Sunday morning, flew back Monday. Spent a lot of $$$ but (please) me have no regrets! I definitely felt the feeling I forgot. The vibe there was amazing. Literally everyone I encountered was so KIND. No negativity whatsoever. Trey did a great job of standing in for the irreplaceable Jerry Garcia (I was lucky enough to catch 40 GD shows w Jerry). That Throwing Stones with him and Bobby vamping off each other was a highlight.
BTW speaking of Albany '93, yeah that was a good run...that Loser from 3-29-93 is probably my favorite version

Nice piece Bill. Definitely sparked some memories of my own playing ice and street hockey in South Jersey. I lived a town over from Clarke and Howe and delivered to their house a couple times when I drove for a local pharmacy. My most personal interaction came in the mid 70s, I was going to a summer day-camp called Cherry Ford...Clarkie made an appearance and gave a speech and talked to us individually for a bit...it was a big thrill...he must have enjoyed himself too because (I think) he ended up buying the camp, as it was later renamed "Bobby Clarke's Day Camp" which I attended for a time, along with his son Wade. |

Barring some yet unknown factor, I have a really hard time seeing this not overturned. - BulliesPhan87
Dunno, if this was Paul Holmgren and the Flyers, I might be inclined to think they rushed into the decision and missed some fine print.
Dean Lombardi, tho? Guy was a labor lawyer for christsake. You gotta figure he at least knows to dot those I's and cross those T's. |

Based on that article, Agreed. Otherwise, we should "Terminate" RJs and Vinny's contracts for unpaid parking tickets. |

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Corey Pronman from ESPN released his top 100 prospects list. He released his team rankings a few days ago with the Flyers ranked 10th. But the Flyers on his prospect list were:
18. Travis Konecny
31. Ivan Provorov
46. Oskar Lindblom
68. Travis Sanheim
And he listed 10 honorable mentions, which included 3 Flyers:
Shayne Gostisbehere, Robert Hagg, and Samuel Morin (listed alphabetically) |

ratings have nothing to do with music whatsoever. you either like the music and appreciate what the band and the fans have to offer or you don't. |

I'm not sure which I'm surprised most by...how high he ranked Lindblom, how low he ranked Sanheim, or the fact he had Lindblom ranked 22 spots higher than Sanheim |

I'm late but what a fantastic read. Reading about Bill's childhood was very similar to reading a page torn from my own life. Same peanut butter, same drinking glass, same wooden stick with the blazing orange plastic blade and arguments with my friends over who would be Clarkie & who would be "stuck" being Bill Barber or Reggie Leach
Bobby Clarke was a deity. He was one of the most talented players in NHL history and was hands down the best player on his team just about every season he was on a roster, yet he put out a nightly effort like a 4th liner trying to keep his job. He was a rare example of talent and heart in one package. As Fred Shero aptly said, he was a dream in work clothes.
Thanks, Bill |
