And 2 of the recent signings or McCabe will make up the 6 and backup spot.

Many will be skeptical, but this defence will be tough to play against, especially with forward support and more offensive zone time.

Buffalo is making the playoffs. Many will be surprised.

But you said we were gonna trade for a LD?

And most of your post is stating the obvious sans the playoff piece. I don't see playoffs at all, not with the D and Lehner. We don't know Gorges health status and we'll essentially have the kids playing back there. I'll be happy if they pass on Franson.

Me thinks it all depends on how quik these guys get acclimated to skating with each other and playing as a team. We have no more bubble players causing stress. Playoffs could be a real thing . Would be a big jump from last season.

Lots of new faces in the lineup this year Cab, gonna take time to adjust. Their top 6 is better no question but Lehner will get killed with the D that we have now. If they made a move for a LD this summer I'd like their playoff chances a bit better but I'd just assume play the kids and see what happens.

Regardless of what happens it's gonna be more fun watching them this season than the past few seasons.

We don't? most of the players we're counting on haven't played a single game as a sabre, Reinhart and Eichel have 9 games nhl experience between them. I think they're just looking to not be awful next year.

Meant bubble players as in guys that know their days are numbered. Who are the guys that you can't wait to get off the team this year? I can't think of one yet . Last bunch of seasons we had more than you could count on one hand. I'm sure that caused problems on the team.

Bogosian, Moulson, Gorges, Weber, McCormick, Legwand. 20 million between those 6 which is frightening.

What's the rush to get rid of Bogosian?

Interesting you don't have Gionta on your list. I sure would.

I don't have a problem with Bogo and I think Moulson will have a better year. Weber, McCormick and Legwand come off the books after next year.

I don't buy into the he's tough to play against defensively because he hits a lot.

I would've had gionta on that list a year ago but he seems to be having an impact on and off the ice, can't hurt to keep him around with Eichel and Reinhart coming through, kane as well.

I don't think there is a better team in managing the cap than Anaheim. An impressive lineup and they still have over $8M in cap space.

To each is own, i don't think he's very good. My worry on Moulson isn't for this year, it's a year or two from now. We're trying to compete, looking for that piece that puts us over the top and we've got a 34 year old making 5 mil on the cap.

As for the other 3, cabs question was who we're desperate to see gone, id say all three fit that description.

Don't they have an internal budget though? Still impressive but of that 8 mil left how much more are they really allowed to spend?

Tough to get a perfect roster. pretty much impossible . We won't have the tank mentality in the locker room so who knows what we will see out of the players this season. Or even the next few. It's a little crazy wishing a player to be gone now cause he will suck 2-3 years from now. Lets just worry about 1 season at a time .

I understand what you're saying about Moulson's contract but I would like to think the cap will be going up some in the next few years so it could be a moot point. And Moulson will be in the final year of his deal when they have to re-sign Eichel. I'm not too worried.

I hope so, hard to predict with the CDN dollar. It just worries me because so many great teams have seen seasons go to waste because of awful cap management.

That would be my D to start the season. Donovan and Ruhwedel will be the call ups during the season and they'll get their opportunities because we know Gorges and Carlo and probably Bogo will sustain injuries throughout the season.

Or they could consider offering PTO's to a d man but unlikely I would say.
