Just that Brouwer and Simmonds are similar players - power forwards and strong on the PP. We certainly would not have had to sweeten the pot like Washington did, but I could see StL wanting Simmonds more than Read.

Simmonds is one of the best, if not the best Power Forwards in the game. I can't think of anyone else better in and around the crease and along the boards. Troy Brouwer is four years older. I wouldn't bother comparing the two.

That fist pump. That playoff series against the Sabres. That 2010 playoff. That playoff career.

I would trade Read for Oshie in heartbeat. Oshie better.

He's a better offensive player, and better suited to play on a top line, but I think that Read is the better all around player. I don't think you're wrong for wanting to make that deal, I just wouldn't.

I think that deal, at least within the organization, would have to come down to whether they think either a Laughton or leier could step in and handle reads defensive responsibilities within the next year or 2. I also am not aware of Oshie's contract v reads

Congrats to him on a great NHL career. Guy always managed to come up big in the clutch and was a lot of fun to watch

They'll find him a spot within the organization

Oshie could take Read's responsibilities and score more in the process

That could very well be true. I admittedly don't know much about Oshie outside of his career numbers and shootout prowess. Wasn't sure if his 2 way game was on par with reads. Also another side note that I could be wrong about, I was under the assumption that Oshie isn't that swoft of foot. Another side note, I believe Oshie is younger than read as well. Tough call.

Edit: I'm also too lazy/not interested enough in a fantasy situation to check, but I'm not sure of Oshie's contract v reads and how they stack up

3-on-3 (which I also hate) should reduce the number of shootouts needed.
- Scoob

I think this teams is gonna be even worse 3 on 3 than the shootout. I also think Oshie will thrive in 3 on 3 action.

Oshie is a year younger, a good two way player and makes about a mill more.
