The stories at that tailgate just flowed like truth. The joys of improv. - tangent_man

I'd link you to the discussion that spawned the inside joke, but old Bill Meltzer threads are dead. |

Well, you're preaching to the choir on that one. I was trying to at least say something positive about Holmgren and dman lol. And you and I have always been on the same page about his penchant for trading draft picks.
At the end of the day the defense was to Holmgren as goaltending was to Clarke...an Achilles heel. - TheGreat28
In a way, yes. In 2010, they were badly hurt by not having a remotely reliable third pair behind a really outstanding top 4, but against the Blackhawks, Leighton & Boucher also played pretty unevenly, regardless of the defense.
Had Pronger continued to play at an elite or even near elite level, the pain wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad, and they wouldn't have had to deal away the assets they did to fill the hole left in the wake of Pronger's absence. |

Thankfully, we were able to pry AMac away from NYI and sign him to a cap-friendly hit to fill that void. |

I'm just going to assume that Briere vowed that, after he retired, he's start enslaving the Amish and force them to bottle spaghetti. - jmatchett383

After Versus (renamed "NBC Sports" since) released the Danny Briere commercial I posted above, there was joking here about him doing commercials locally. bradleyc4 lives out in Amish country, so someone made a comment about Briere doing Amish Cable commercials (as if a thing existed, heh). Number23 then posted this picture of Amish men talking with a caption:
"Tell the English ye shall arrive between the hours of 10 & 2..."
He then added Danny Briere's face to the man on the right and gave me my avatar.

I see we have discovered how legends start:
Foggy memories shared by those in on the inside joke + Hollywood producer-sized theories = LEGEND

Back in the Olde Days when Number23 didn't have a highly energetic child to subdue for 18 hours a day and he had time to paste Briere's mug on an Amish guy's picture |
