You can sense we are turning things around with the drafting the last 3 years. Even if we are not going to hit home runs, the best of the crop look to be heading for the NHL. The last 3 drafts are going to outshine the entire decade prior to the three.

I have liked what I have seen from Boeser so far, but I don't know enough about him after going the USHL route. Is it fair to hope/expect him to follow the same path as Larkin?

I get to watch this kid play all year. Its going to be awesome. Wish the Bruins would have picked him up instead of having a poopty draft. - dothedougie

What a bizarre draft for your club. What's the feeling amongst you guys?
Whine whine whine. Canucks fans are the worst. I have season tickets and the atmosphere at the rink is horrible. All I can hear is myself cheering!
Benning is on a role and will have a ton of ammunition next year with cap space and some holes to fill. The Cap ain't going up so say hello to some cap strapped teams cast offs.
I think we are in great position and if we stink this year (I hope we do, the only time I'd ever root against the team) we get a high draft pick and can sell off guys on expiring contracts. I think Benning has done this on purpose as all the contracts he's signed or traded for shows this (except Sutter).
Look at the big picture is all I'm saying. Boohoo, we got rid of Bieksa and Bonino, the sky is falling

Perhaps you have not been around in a while. I am completely happy with Benning.
At least he had the courage to defy the whiners and clean out the aging core. - rugdnit
I wouldn't say I was completely happy, and glad I am not, but I think he has brought some much needed change and we actually have some depth in Utica.
Really looking forward to the season ahead. Will we still be competitive and in the playoffs? If we aren't, will JB pull the trigger and trade some pending UFA's or resign them? Make other moves that will help the club down the road?
Will we see more youth in the lineup? 4th line centre? JV?

True it's hard to say completely; however, it's never perfect in any one persons eyes and nobody knows for sure at the time.
It's only looking back you can say Yes or No this was a Good or Bad move.
Nobody knows until it all plays out. Even then there are reasons that we are not always privy to for why something was done or not done.

My feeling? Would have rather seen Barzal and Boeser/or Connor instead of DeBrusk and Senyshyn. Initially it was anger, now I just feel like this season is going to be a throw away.
So did the Canucks have consistently low ranked prospect pools in those years or did most hockey prospect "experts" not have a clue on who was going to develop and who wasn't?

A lot of the problem was not having the high picks, traded away for rentals at tdl, and some questionable choices otherwise. The cupboards were completely bare a few years ago, nobody from the minors was pushing for a top 6 spot or much else.
Can't speak of any knowledge or process for prior drafting or decision making.

I was thinking the biggest factor in the Kesler trade, could be McCann. and that being the case, he might or might not turn out and before that is even determined, he could still be traded for another prospect or pick, etc...
Either way, you are right, it has to play out a bit if you want to judge more than what is on paper, some real on ice play and results.
I hope they stream the young stars again or put it on cable.
