If I got a nickel for every significantly flawed quarterback that broke school records in college, I would never have to work another day in my life. - buffalofan19
But YOU said inconsistent, i am asking how he has proven he cant do it week in and week out. Becasue YOU said that. So what are you basing that off of? |

Call me negative, but it's just like last year. There is no right answer among Manuel, Taylor, and Cassel. - buffalofan19
I think it's Cassel for now, but keep all 3.
Manuel is getting better, and Taylor is interesting |

Of course not. But Taylor has been routinely sacked, made very limited throw from the pocket, and has had his share of picks in practice and he's somehow been 10x better? It just isn't the case - sbroads24
Manuel has also been routinely sacked. And as far as practice goes, the coaches have Manuel with the 3rd team players for a reason. His pass to the hospitality tent may have something to do with that.
I'm sure Taylor isn't 10x better. And in the end, I think Cassel is the guy that ends up trotting out there for the opening snap of the season. But I have to say that I like Taylor's accuracy much better than Manuel's. He's not throwing the ball 10 feet over their head or in the dirt at their feet. It's right in the numbers. |

No, I said the question has been whether he can do it week in and week out. He hasn't proven he can. Otherwise, he would have been a starter somewhere by now. |

I had no complaints with Tyrod Taylor's game yesterday, other than the inability to get the ball into the end zone, though he did have a touchdown dropped. However, the concern with him has always been whether he has the ability to play like that week in and week out. History says he doesn't. - buffalofan19

I think they should keep all 3. Our options already aren't great. Can you imagine if there was an injury and they had to bring in someone else during the season?

Taylor is a hard working kid that has improved every year, but it is unclear if he can play quarterback at the next level. He has a quick release and a strong arm, but he is somewhat erratic as a passer. He also does not show the consistent sound decision making to be an efficient quarterback. His greatest asset is his athleticism and he should be able to contribute immediately as a running back, receiver or return man. A terrific senior season, where he completed nearly 60% of his passes, has helped his draft stock and he could sneak into the third round. |

Combine stats? What does this have to do with week in and week out? I think you just worded what you were trying to say wrong. That or you should stick to hockey. |

Manuel had a TD drop on 3rd and goal last night, then threw a bullet on 4th and goal.
As far as actually throwing the ball, Manuel is the only QB with a TD in each of the scrimmage, and 1st 2 preseason games. Neither Cassel or Taylor have one.
I don't get how he has been seemingly eliminated here - sbroads24
Every quarterback can throw a ball. It's what you (can) do when you're under pressure or need to change a play on the fly to fool the defense. EJ Manuel is very limited with his footwork and mechanics when even the slightest amount of pressure is on him. The thing is, he's actually kinda smart out there. Physically though, you wouldn't know it, because as far as performing under pressure, he's a zero and everyone know it. |

I wonder when the Kirk Cousins talk will heat up. Not by sources, just by fans. Shouldn't be long.
Hopefully by then, we start talking about Rick Nash to Buffalo and why he's the holiest demon on this planet. |

Coach Rex Ryan said after Thursday night's second preseason game that he's decided not to name a starting quarterback until Week 1 against the Colts.
"Yeah, I just decided that," Ryan said. "I'm not going to make that decision until we play Indy. Competitive reasons, whatever. Go for it. We don't need to tell them. Until the league makes us tell them, we can just go right up in there and say, 'We're not gonna say anything.' We may know. But why would we say any different? The quarterbacks that we're talking about, they're all three different. So plan for all three of them. And I think that's smart on our part." For those hoping Tyrod Taylor would be named the starter next week, it doesn't appear that will be the case. But deep down, Ryan has to believe Taylor is his best option. |

This is simply not true.
He hasn't even been put in many situations under pressure to even say he can't perform.
I mean, he did lead a game winning drive as a rookie against Carolina, and then the next year against Chicago. |

Oh right, so all those pocket bursts that turn into atrocious throws to the general 10' vicinity of the intended receiver counts as performance?
Here's the situation and why EJ will lose to Tyrod. Tyrod is consistently better than him. EJ's (frank) ups are terrible. He's consistently inconsistent. And that's why he'll lose. |

Yes, however guys who play a 3rd line role but get paid like a 2nd liner seem to always find their way out the door sooner than later.
Matt Moulson is still the 3rd highest paid forward on this team. Realistically he's the 8th or 9th best forward on a cup team.
Him on a 5 year deal until he's 36 is bad cap management. Period - sbroads24
You and I have talked about this multiple times.
You are not going to be able to field a team entirely comprised of bargains.
While I understand your point, and agree that 5 years as too long, his salary will not be hampering the team during the life of his contract, and that is if he is even here for the life of his contract. |

And in 8 games, we will see why he was a late round pick and will be talking about drafting a QB.
This Tyrod love fest is bordering on insanity
3 effin points last night. NO TD passes in about a full game in 2 weeks (Half against back ups)
He's totaled about 100 yards passing.
He's consistently done very little. |
