I am willing to give him one more year
he looked so good that first half on the road vs chicago, and was grooving his rookie year til he got hurt vs the browns - homiedclown
I don't want to waste a roster spot for a 3rd stringer who I don't have that much upside in |

Trent Edwards played well, and then got his clock cleaned by whomever the Arizona DB was. He was never the same after that. Professional sports is full of players that have brief moments of playing well, but are mediocre to poor for the most part. EJ falls into that category. |

Carrying 3 quarterbacks seems to be a thing of the past in the NFL these days. |

Its a waste id rather carry 1 more sp player or depth somewhere. Just imagine if the 90's teams carried 3 and we didnt play Tasker cause that spot is used up.
Not to mention if we do carry 3 qbs we are atleast carrying a FB so there is 2 "poor roster spots" |

Id disagree, If we went though 2 Qb's we aren't making the playoffs keeping Manuel around. You go to free agency and sign someone in the event of multiple injuries |

plus 2 kickers, that takes up a spot
they need to expand the nfl roster, and leave the game roster where it is at |

in this case, all 3 qb's are blah
cassel is steady , safe, and dilfer esque
ej is potential and inconsistent as hell
taylor is the wild card
the o line will make or break the qb's IMO |

Just going off statistics:
18 attempts 12 completions 114 yards 66.7 percentage sacked 1 time
10 attempts 88 yards rushing
202 total yards
22 attempts 13 completions 188 yards 59.1 percentage (1 pass counts for 51 yards ) and 1 of his 2 TD's. Sacked 4 times
4 attempts 13 yards rushing
201 total yards
When in 2 games you're only attempting to throw 18 times its too early to tell, but last night he did deliver some real quality throws.
EJ will have that stigma of what he did in the 1st preseason game. Escape pressure and badly underthrow a wide open receiver. That is his biggest hurdle. He has done that his entire career here.
Until Taylor starts doing that on the regular he will have the advantage over EJ in the fans eyes.
I did like Taylor's pocket presence yesterday. He stepped up in the pocket and made so tough throws (hitting the receiver in the numbers). He also did do it against a very good defense without any starting RB's and WR's.
If Taylor can be Russell Wilson like and lite for the other 2 preseason games and get some points on the board (he should have had 1 TD yesterday) he is the starter IMO. I would like to see him throw the ball deep, something that has been his knock against him. EJ does throw a great deep ball but he has issues with the 7-15 yard passes. - Stripes77
Good analysis Stripes...however, with respect to Manuel...his long balls are pretty..tight spiral...but Pretty inaccurate...recall his sideline throws which were consistently on the wrong side of the white (very wide) sideline...like by 2 -3 yards on the wrong side.
He isn't the one and isn't improving fast enough, meaning he will never be the guy.

Rex did say that he isnt announcing a starter and wants the colts to prepare for all three so they just might. |

I should have said great deep ball when its in the middle of the field. I keep remembering Woods TD against Baltimore... |
