I really don't like Read on the top line, especially when you have 2 other right handed shots on the line. If you are going to split up Giroux and Voracek, I'd try:

Raffl-Giroux-Gagner
Read-Schenn-Voracek
Laughton or Umberger-Couturier-Simmonds
VDV or White-Bellemare-White or Umberger

Either way, swapping B Schenn for a true top 6 LW would really help.

I'd switch Read and Raffl. As far as the authors comments concering Berube's system requiring the center to come back deep defensively. LA has been one of the top possesssion teams year in and year out. Watch them play, they have their center come back deep in breakouts all the time.

Not worth disrupting the chemistry IMO. They are a top 5 duos in the league. Focus should be on improving the 2nd and 3rd lines without dismantling a key strength on the team.

Honestly, probably Malkin. Crosby had good chemistry with Hornqvist and Perron had better results with Crosby than Malkin, so I think they'll keep those 3 together.

Obviously, injuries and slumps change everything.

This would be my preference as well.

they have had more then their share of weird injuries and health issues

between Maataa with cancer and Letang having a stroke, I can't remember ever hearing about illness like these in young athletes
