Do you guys think Jordan Matthews comes anywhere close to sniffing the kind of production Maclin put up last year? - Fryman4
2. The Ravens had no answer for Jordan Matthews at Wednesday's practice, but did manage to devise a game plan to stop the second-year receiver on Day 2 of joint practices. Of course, it wasn't exactly a success. Unable to slow him down, defensive backs manhandled Matthews instead, drawing at least three flags for pass intereference. One was a perfectly placed deep pass from Sam Bradford where Matthews' arm was pinned to his side. Another occurred in the end zone to put the Eagles on the 1-yard line. The wideout hauled in his share of passes, too, and cointinued to look like the best target on the field for the offense. |

We all know that how the saying originated is based on a myth. Ostrichs don't bury their head in the sand. What's important is what the idiom is implying, which is a refusal to acknowledge something.

Forgive me if late but here's Dan Rosen's take on us this year:
What are the Philadelphia Flyers' chances at the playoffs? Also do we see any of the 'D' prospects make the team?
I'd say their chances this season are slim because I don't think they're better than any of the top five teams in the Metropolitan Division that I already mentioned. Their D is still lacking, even with prospects such as Samuel Morin, Travis Sanheim and Shayne Gostisbehere getting closer. If one or two of them makes the lineup, it'll still be a development season for them. It'll also be an interesting and potentially difficult transition for coach Dave Hakstol, who has coached NHL players in an NHL system at the University of North Dakota but has never coached in the NHL before.
As for the prospects, Morin probably has the best chance, but even he likely will start in the American Hockey League. The Flyers defense isn't all that strong, but they have a lot of NHL defensemen already, so cracking the lineup will be difficult. The signing of 32-year-old Russian defenseman Yevgeni Medvedev makes it even tougher.
I mostly agree though I dont think "slim" is the right word. Maybe "shakey" would be a bit better. We lost so many one goal games last year, swing a few of those the opposite way and this could be a playoff team this year for sure. |

So... This report came before or after hextall said our prospects will start filtering in this year. One his point was you csnt have them all come in at once. Also can't rush or wait too long with them. Money on morin because expecting gudas or schenn is out man out or possibly even Medvedev at trade deadline they will need more physicality and he'd bring better skating with that. Seeing as he's not expected to be a member the pp or scoring third line minutes plus pk could suit him well. |

I think hextall getting a b+ is respectable and what he has earned so far since most of his decisions have been geared to the future. I also think the hartnell trade was underwhelming, even if umberger plays to his potential next year. I also believe the flyers will be better this season and I'm excited to see what hextall and hakstol have in mind for how they will build the team. I really love pizza and (frank) anyone who doesn't. |
