Interesting, although I think those 4 will be hard pressed to break into the big club.
Cassels may have the best chance, but I'm thinking at least a year in Utica. I can honestly say I've never heard of Blomstrand, but to go from ECHL to NHL would be a major accomplishment |

Saw that earlier but there really isn't a lot there. Saying they might surprise, but the only one that really has much of a chance to see any NHL icetime soon is Grenier.
Cassels, MacKenze and Blomstrand have yet to play an AHL game. I am guessing they will have to show what they can do there before they see any regular season ice time. Unless Cassels really shines and gets a shot at 4th line c. |

Maybe that scout he talked to was Ron delorme. And Ron drove him insane after the rambling guy realized delorme was working as an nhl scout and didn't have a clue... |

Shea Theodore....why didn't Benning ask for this kid in the Kesler transaction I'll never know...or maybe he did and they said "get bent"?
In reply, I'm sure Theodore was on Bennings mind. No way ANA was giving him up. BM had Benning over a barrel. With only 1 team to trade with BM knew he would have the advantage on Benning.
We got 2 serviceable players and the worst of 2 1sts. Sbisa isn't as bad as everyone says. But I wasn't clamouring for him. Theodore and the late 1st would been enough for me. But, its all up to McCann now.

Exactly. Pretty Sure Bonino and Sbisa were not his first inquiries too. I heard benning originally inquired on DSP, and/or Etem and Rakell. ANA was not moving Etem and Rakell. So we ended up with Bonino/Sutter and McCann for the clown show that was Kesler. We did just fine with Sutter here now and McCann coming in. |

I am very curious to how Sbisa plays this year without KB and how the Ducks D looks with him. I believe they took a step back. |

Kind of wondering who is going to get the bulk of Bieksa's minutes? Will Weber line up next to Hamhuis for most of the season? Will Bartkowski make much of impression? Is Corrado going to be in the press box for half the season? Which guy gets moved out first? Will anyone unexpected step up?
I am rooting for Biega. I thought he brought a lot of the style of play we lacked last season. But beyond that, just hoping with a Vrbata or Hamhuis trade, we are able to bring in a prospect or pick that turns into a top4 dman, or better. (sipping kool-aid coffee this morning)

Good read, validates what most of us have been bantering about.

Canucks have been for years a very good regular season team that disappears when things get tough in the playoffs. Prust JV will help a little when it comes to playoffs. Others like Higgins Kenins Vey won't help a lick. Edler needs to find a playoff game. He can not continue to be invisible if he is our D #1 |

IMO Canucks don't really have anyone other than Tanev. They need to fix that over the next two years. As much as some hate Sbisa he is a stop gap.
We should be looking to replace Hamhuis not extend him unless they can get very very cheap , well under what he is making now.
Edler should be traded for a younger upcoming guy , to a team that is making a run now.
Our D is in for some lean years , they need to start now to replace it.
A risky trade, but could reward us in the future is Edler for Gudbranson who has struggled but is still very young |

Lean years for sure, they needed to start a few seasons ago to get a new batch ready.
If they can't bring in some younger guys that are somewhat ready to step in, like they tried with Clendening, they will have to go the ufa route until someone in the system is ready to step up.
I think I'd rather trade Edler than Hamhuis. Edler can't play physical anymore, his back is wonky. Management knows we need help on d, I expect them to talk to Hamhuis and figure out if he can be resigned and go from there.
If Hamhuis walks for nothing, I guess we should count our blessings with our 2 Swiss Olympians, Weber and Sbisa. |

Edler Grenier for Pirri Gudbranson. - VANTEL
I can't wait to see what JB comes up with. Just waiting on Sbisa to be traded in the second or third year of that contract and the inevitable biatching about the return that will follow.

Maybe he was just trying to evolve the conversation???
- rugdnit
The all caps, lack of sentence structure and paragraphs made it confusing to read. Was trying to figure out who the guy was talking about and comparing them to Alex Burrows?
Anyway, we have that MacKenze kid, don't want too many projects in the minors. |

Sbisa will be better without Bieksa and I feel bad with whoever gets paired with KB in ANA. |

KB makes a lot of bad decisions and pinches that leaves his partner hung out to dry. Check our record when he is out of the lineup last year.

Kenins might show signs of playoff toughness as he gets older we'll see but yes Higgins and Vey (right now) do not help us much if we make the playoffs.
Also had high hopes for Edler but it's becoming increasingly clear he isn't going to be a big game guy especially in the PO's. Really hoping for a Hamhuis-Edler-Vrbata deal at TDL. Burrows can stick around for a bit more if needed as he is good up and down all four lines but if we are stagnant at TDL it will be time for Higgins-Hamhuis-Edler and Vrbata to git gone... |

Good news for KB in ANA is that ANA actually has a decent amount of forwards that can clear the defensive zone multiple ways...will make Bieksa look much better than he is...technically. |
