I am not against trading Edler, but his salary is closer to a 3/4 dman than a #1 dman.... Made me think of Higgins, guy is a 3rd liner and is always put in a 2nd line role, a/c lack of talent on the team, and we hate the guy for it...

Just finished reading the discussion on Edler, and major points have been covered. I don't think there's harm in seeing what his value is on the market. If you get something you like, you weigh the pros/cons of asking him and decide what you're going to do then. That being said, I personally wouldn't trade him. I'd do my best to augment the top-4, so he can play 3/4 minutes in the last couple years of his awesome contract. Draft, develop, trade, sign, do whatever you have to do to find a player to replace him in the top-2.

I'm warming up to this deal. We needed to be better on the dot and he's a much better skater than Bonino, he'll help in these areas plus it takes any added pressure off Horvat to take on the second line role.

Sutter is going to much better than Bonino. I don't have any doubts about that. I would be a little sour on the contract if they didnt modify his NTC for the last couple of years. Benning won't be stuck with Sutter post Sedins of he doesnt need him thats for sure.

If he gets the Republican nomination (not likely) he'd have the right wing Christain vote no matter what he does or says. He'll be running as an Independent most likely.
