Long live the Sedins....we don't need no stinkin poll to know they're still top 20 players in the league. |

But it's disappointing that after all their years of success, the Sedins still don't get the respect around the league that I think they've earned. -CS
and what Lefty said.
Still putting up numbers and still overlooked.
If they weren't brothers it would be different. creepy? |

I'm not a Sedin's fan, but I do acknowledge the fact the are good hockey players. The reason they don't get respect throughout the league is the east knows little about what goes on here. That can be validated by the fact we tend to overpay with the east, and get seemingly less than market value when we send assets that way. |

We all know the Sedins are still very good players, and I think the rest of the league knows that too. When commentators or other players talk about them they still say they're so hard to play against.
That being said...I long for the day when the team consists of fresh new faces with youthful enthusiasm. There's a lot to be said about developing prospects in a winning or competitive environment, which is why I'm personally going to be patient over the next three years and watch them sail into the sunset. |

I believe it's east/central coast ignorance, I have a hard time giving any credibility or support to the so called hockey experts.
As soon as a comment or statement is made, even if it's been proven to be false, it will be reported as a truth, and then we get idiots and trolls in here spewing the crap from guys like Reid and Poulin.
Hockey, just like with politics, the west is irrelevant and an after thought. |

The sister's are on the downside of their careers. They are one dimensional, they don't play a two way game. Sorry, there are 50 players better than them. |

I think what it is they have been here a long time, our window closed and most of us are looking at the next generation. Good players but I'm ready to move on. |

I still think they are top 50. That's all we have and we're stuck with them, and all the other NTC's. |

It's comical how little respect they get. I think we all want the Canucks to get a good draft pick this year. However, it be nice to see them prove everyone wrong, again. Nobody had them where they finished last year. But then again, if the Sedins lead the nucks to another playoff spot, they still wouldn't get any respect.
Lets talk about Getzlaf and Perry and how they choke in big games? They were young and road the coat tails of Niedermayer, Pronger, Selanne etc. Now that they are "the ones" all they have done is choke. Especially on home ice. Especially in game 7's.
I still would take them on my team. But just wanted to dish out some of your own medicine. #haters

aaaaand...there are no other 'one dimensional' players in the top 50? Sedins may lack a few things that certain other players have but after finishing 8th and 10th respectively and being consistent scorers in the top 25, pretty baffling how they aren't rated higher.
Good luck winning a cup with Kesler by the way...

They won the cup with several other great players. Neidermeyer, Pronger, Kunitz, Penner (When he was good)
Now that the load is on their back, you're right. They do choke in big games. |

Not surprising that the Sedins don't make top 50. Problem is that Vancouver as a whole has been discounted every year since after the SCF in 2011.
People see Matthias and Bonino gone and think only of the goals. They don't see the soft players who rarely had an impact on the game.
They remember KB in his prime - but that was several years ago. It used to be when KB was injured (as he frequently was), the team suffered greatly. He had a MAJOR impact on the Canuck game. 2014/15 when he was injured, he was not missed. KB no longer owns the ice like he once did.
Kassian gone - yes he has great potential. I hope he becomes Montreal's version of the best of Bertuzzi. Problem is, he was Vancouver's newer version of the worst of Bertuzzi.
People refuse to look past the stats to don't see what Benning sees - that these new players can impact a game. Prust & Sutter, while very different, both bring a noticeable impact to a game. Baertschi and Vey may be raw rookies, but both are exceptionally skilled, both are totally dedicated, and both should come back stronger and ready for breakout years. Bartkowski brings the pucking moving and physicality we lost with KB. He is younger and entering his prime. In 15/16 MB may be a better player than KB. Sbisa, Sbisa, Sbisa..... Everyone's favorite rant. We all remember the oops. We all forget that when KB went down, it was LS that stepped up his game. LS is why KB was not missed. LS at 25 is getting better. KB is not. I expect that come the end of the year, us fans will recognize that he his deal wasn't all that bad after all. Weber, being Weber, will continue to improve, and score on the PP. It will be 3 on 3 where he strikes gold.
So what does any of this have to do with the Sedins being in the top 50. Well, people assume they will fail because they don't have a supporting cast and they are 34 so the world must have come to an end. They figure that the Sedins cant do it by themselves because they have never done a goal scoring end to end rush on their own. I think that they will have a stronger supporting cast in 15/16 and far less liberties will be taken on them. I think they will have an outstanding year. There skill is cerebral and puck control. It never was skate faster, shoot harder, bang everything and lose it all by 34. They will still be elite at 36 or 38. And the naysayers will still not understand why they are top 50 in scoring in the league. Then again, a lot of the media never accepted them as anything more than having an evil cosmic mind reading ability. Arts, Harts, and Lindseys were totally unwarranted, and obviously totally imaginary.
