Fortunately for you that's a dilemma you'll never have to worry about.

Hang in there. It wasn't that long ago when the thought of one cup, let alone three, was even a consdieration for Hawk fans.

Take it with a grain of salt...while this guy correctly has called a couple crazy trades for Buffalo before they happened, he has posted that Kane will be charged with a misdemeanor in a plea deal within a week.
- stashu

Gonna say this.. if that is true. 88 will never play another game for ChiTown. All the recent issues with him. Now the rape investigation. Even if its a misd. charge, he is still being charged in relation to a felony sexual assault incident. Hes gone. So now can you even trade him if that were to happen. (Yes this is conjecture) But we alll know Stan and Company are looking at that issue as well.

The guy is elite talent and is huge reason we have 3 Cups, but the team wont allow him to stay after this. How can they? My gut all along is that Kane may not be a Hawk either way. Im sure Buffalo would take him. Well.. maybe.

Gonna have to wait at least one more year though. It won't be until after Backes walks as an F/A next summer, that the Blues might have a chance.

Thanks Al! Very much agree with the above. For example - IMO the acquisition of Anisimov as well as the longer term extension was to compliment Kane until TT grows into an NHL center (or as JJ might say establishes himself on the wing).

I don't know about that. I think the holier than thou attitude being projected by many Hawk fans is just a bit over the top.

Just a poster on the Sabres thread here. He's called the crazy Kane trade and an out of nowhere trade in the past (Sabres getting Tallinder back from NJ I believe it was).

Ogi's got me in positive spin mode this morning so how's this scenario - the charges are dropped and Kane is put on LTIR for the 3 months he is in a rehab program which accrues enough cap space to acquire Stamkos and the TDL (don't bog me down with details like who/what would the Hawks have to give up, not to mention why would Tampa be in sell mode - I'm on a roll).

I believe that was part of the thinking as well.

Minus the Kane stuff, will still be lots of new faces this year...should be interesting. The team got a lot younger overnight even with the loss of Saad.

- HawkintheD

And this is a year where most fans will come to see just how valuable Coach Q is to the Blackhawks, and integral to their success. He has a system that is not difficult to understand, but taxing to play. Players have to be 100% committed to make team defence work, and still be able to generate scoring chances. This is why Bowman brought in the players that he did (although we don't know enough about Panarin), Anisimov, Dano, Daley and Garbutt are all hard working, two way players that have demonstrated tenacity. Even without Kane, this team will win more than it loses because of our system, our goaltending, our top 4 defencemen and the depth of our forwards and their tenacity.

Replacing Kane won't be easy, and straight up is impossible to do; however, because he's a winger, and we are strong down the middle, he's a little easier to replace than perhaps many here believe. Even if a deal for Kane brought back a return similar to Anisimov and Dano (in abilities and talent, not necessarily position), the Hawks would still be favourites to repeat IMO. A deal that brought back Byfuglien and say Lowry (plus perhaps a prospect) would make the Hawks the best Defensive team in the NHL, with greater SIZE, STRENGTH and PHYSICALITY than we had with Kane.

I don't know about you, but with Crawford and Darling in net, a top 5 Defence of Keith, Sebs, Hammer, Buff, and Daley...plus a collection of consistent two way forwards where we are strong down the middle, makes me believe REPEAT. I understand what Kane brings to the table, especially during the playoffs, but remember, Buff's best game is also during the playoffs, and Q will get the very best out of Buff, just like Paul Maurice did once Byfuglien accepted his defence first approach!

A deal that brought us Lowry as well would mean that Teravanien could be singularly used as a RW and who knows how much of Kane's production he would "take up" himself, let alone the additions of Dano and Panarin. Plus, I mentioned this earlier this summer, I was told by a Hawk's Executive that they are VERY HIGH on Viktor Tikhonov, they think he will be the biggest immediate help to the Hawks out of the gate, as he plays such a strong, mature, responsible, two way game.

I honestly see us getting better this season with the right move in any Kane deal. It might take a little time for everything to mix just right, but we can become a better team, and a team that could afford to keep Corey Crawford and Brent Seabrook moving forward!

I was here after the 13/14 season trying to talk about how Kane might consider leaving Chicago, told repeatedly how nuts I was, and obviously we all know what happened.

Now I can say I'm glad he stayed. :D

Another big point here Ogi is that JJ brought up the issue that the Hawks top brass were kinda split on giving Kane this huge contract he has. If he does take a plea deal, will the brass now say enough is enough considering all the other mishaps? NHL is not like the NFL. They tend to put the smack down on players when they really step in it. Dont know. Its a legit mess and we are weeks away from camp. Barring a trade, I can see the Hawks suspending him for a while to deterimine where Kanes mental state is at. Or they may shelve him until they figure what the hell they want to do with him.

With 86/56/72 now on the roster and the thoughts of possibly moving 88 for Buff and others, Im ok with that at this point. JJ's last post in terms of 88 being toxic in a Hawks sweater has merit. If Buff came back in the deal, our D becomes that much better. D and goaltending are huge in the playoffs. Im sure this board would tip over of 88 gets traded if he is not charged with anything serious. I think its gonna happen.

Assuming he is not charged. Which do you see as the most likely scenerio?

League suspends Kane- If so what grounds, COC?
Blackhawks suspend Kane
Civil suit is filed or a settlement is reached

IMO moving Kane now is ridiculous. The return is not at its highest in fact it does not get much lower. In the future the liklyhood is much more probable they get a max return and again that is assuming he keeps his nose clean. But at that time why would they?

Yeah, in the NFL they cut you loose completely and pay out any guaranteed money called for in the contract.

And if the worst Kane scenario unfolds or nothing is resolved legally by mid September, they won't suspend him because of his mental state. It will be because they want rid of an employee who's conduct has brought negative attention to the franchise and its owner.

I have no idea to be honest. Im sure Stan is sitting at his desk with his face in his hands. Yes his trade value now is in the toilet. Or like the Richards issue, do the Hawks simply void his deal and take the 10 million back? As JJ/Mex have pointed out, do he Hawks try to work with this and if they do and 88 screws up again? That would no doubt cost jobs for people in Hawks management. Big F'n mess.

To be clear, screwing up means causing negative reflections on the team. Whether hes formally charged or not. Its a catch 22.

He is either going to be re-signed, or traded at the deadline.

I have a hard time believing the Blues will just walk away from him after the year. And get nothing. He would be able to command a contact similar to Keslers deal, which is too much.

I guess we could also trade his rights in the off-season.... but I don't like that scenario.

If this is true , which happens in a lot of theses cases the plea is usally Misdemeanor battery.

That would mean the rape kits came back negative
The victim and witnesses statements dont add up to rape.

Plus statistically thisnis the most likely outcome if charges would be pressed at all.

I still think Kane is a Hawk for life. No matter what. See Ben R from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Blackhawks will be absolutley loaded at Forward this season.

- mrpaulish

Or the alleged victim chooses to not go to court and settles....And the misdemeanor is part of the plea deal.
