If true, it might support the other rumor that something is about to break as far as an actual charge. - John Jaeckel

I think I agree with JJ here and while there will likely need to be rehab and commitment to change that is formal and verifiable by the team I don't think it will be public. To be real and meaningful change is what's required (per folks with access to FO sources) not public rehab. My 2 cents, which is maybe what it's worth.
Thanks guys for the levity surrounding Paul's dimensions, choice of shirt and dining options. Really needed the laugh. - Marlowe
Agreed, nor really should it be public. MOST fans I suspect are willing to blame the victim, defend Kane, etc., anyway.
The team has to consider the facts, before and during this particular incident and decide if he is worth the risk going forward. So it's ALL about what he does, not what he says, going forward. |

1) No I have not heard that. But it feels like something's coming, no?
2) Probably someone you saw on the wall at the post office.

It would be great if they could get a handle on this whole mess soon . Kane is a great pure talent ,top 5 in the league if I were asked . But if he really cleaned up is off ice stuff ,what could he become .Sure would like to see .Think most of us thought he had last year . |

I was just thinking to appease the public but you and the other people who have said no to the public stuff are probably right. I think AA will definitely be mandatory, especially since all of these incidents have involved alcohol.
Either way, camp is in like 3 weeks. Something has to pop. |

hearing there will be news today - end of day
Mex, you hearing same thing? - Confederate
Yes, there has been a flurry of activity involving Kane, his lawyers, his agent Pat Brisson, and the authorities. The Hawks Mgt. are expecting a statement from the authorities soon...could come today but they were thinking next Tuesday. |

If he's going to do AA, he almost necessarily has to do inpatient rehab (28 days minimum) first.
If alcohol is deemed a problem, he pretty much has to enter into the league program, and I think (anyone in the know, please inform) the protocol there is in-patient rehab (which will be kept real quiet), then after-care (AA). |

Some will have doubts if he's cleared no matter what. If he truly does have a drinking problem, in-patient care is part of the Joint NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program (SABH) and I would hope he has hit bottom with this last incident and he takes advantage of it. - walleyeb1
Thx Wally, just saw this, yes, that makes sense

Side note... RIP Al Arbour
While he's known as the coach of the Islanders dynasty, his name is on the Cup as a member of the Blackhawks 60-61 championship team. Ironically the Isles host the Hawks in their home opener. |

Will be interesting to see when it comes. The general rule is that if you want to bury something release it on Friday. If you don't, release it on Tuesday. Of course whether you want to bury it is very much dependent on your perspective on that news. |

Even if most fans (unfairly) blame the victim, a sizable minority (1/5? 1/4? 1/3?) will "blame" the accused, again, perhaps unfairly, not really knowing guilt or innocence.
I think Kane needs some kind of public repentence, to win back the fan base goodwill to him as well as to the team and the league (for has responsibility to both the latter two as well as the former): a public apology for the past indiscretions, a public commitment to turn his life around, some kind of public announcement of the roadmap he will ve following.
He is the face of this franchise and one of the faces of the league: it can't be buried by a legal decision not to proceed with charges (if that if the outcome). |

I played against Arbour's Isles in my first NHL season in the finals. That was the best coached team I had ever witnessed, every guy knew EXACTLY what they were supposed to do, and did it without great emotion...the Isle players just went about their business KNOWING that if they did it right, they couldn't lose. We chased and chased in that series from minute one and played as hard as we could, but it simply wasn't enough.
And I never had any great frustration or anger towards the Isles, in fact, I spent most of that series in awe of those guys. Throughout the series during breaks on the ice Trottier would tell me small things about what I was doing wrong with my stick or my positioning. After game 4, the only game we won, Al Arbour told me that I had a hell of a future in the game...I couldn't believe that the best in the game would even care that I existed...that team was pure class, incredible students of the game, and the best coached team I ever witnessed.
And during the Hawks run from 2009, with Q on board as coach, I see the same things. Everyone likes to talk about Patrick Kane and his offensive skills, but for me the Hawks are all about Jonathan Toews executing Q's system to perfection. The subtle things that Duncan Keith does with his stick to make up for his lack of size...taught to him by Q. We play focused, smart hockey where no one is asked to do anything spectacular, just their jobs...which was how the Isles under Al Arbour played the game. No wonder Q, Arbour and Scotty Bowman have so many wins and Cups between them. They all coached the game the SAME WAY!
Al Arbour will be missed, but NEVER FORGOTTEN because he and Bowman directly influenced Joel Quenneville and Q has influenced a whole new age of coaches...their brilliance will just go on and on and on. |

I think you might have forgotten about Trent Yawney as the guy who originally taught Keith to use his stick to make up for his lack of size. |
