That is incorrect. He is not retired, he is currently on Arizona's cap, counting exactly as any other player is. You're welcome to continue stating that Pronger is retired, but it is a fact, that he is not retired. Again, this is a situation where you want to use your definition of what retired is. A player is retired when files his retirement papers with the NHLPA. Until then, Pronger is not retired. The fact that he cannot play due to injury, does not mean he is retired.
Pronger is retired is factually untrue. Retired players cannot be placed on LTIR, because retired players are not on a teams roster. Pronger is currently on Arizona's player roster, and will be during the season. Pronger also counts as one of the teams 50 contracts. Retired players do not have an active contract with an NHL team. In terms of the LTIR issue, you have zero basis. How you want the rules to be, is not a sound basis to state a team has circumvented the cap. Who you think is on your side is irrelevant to the facts. - MJL
It's fine. I'm done. You can claim that my arguments are baseless, while I can claim that your arguments are selective and circular. I've made all the points that I want to make on the subject, and it's obvious that neither side is going to budge on our stances. So good day to you. |

We all know that Pronger is not going to play again so as long as the system gets worked like this with no big objection things will be as is. This is the point my fellow Kings fan is making. It's like you are trying prove there is a jesus image in a piece of toast. When we all know it's just burnt toast. |

As a Pens fan this hurts to see. We're basically a top 4 D man away from being an extremely complete team and one of our best signs for 3rd pairing money. That said, great pick up for the Kings.

I've never disputed that Pronger is not going to play. That doesn't matter, and the fact that he's not going to play again, does not point to the Flyers circumventing the cap. Your reply did not address that issue. Just made a lame analogy. |

So why just not hang on to Pronger? We know he is not going to play again.
No point in trading him right? |

A player who is not going to play and be placed on LTIR, counts in full during the off season, since there is no LTIR during the summer. That affects a team and it's ability to maneuver during the off season. It also stops the Flyers from having to play the game of getting full relief by having to wait until the first day of the season to place the player on LTIR. That was the value of trading him. |

So not unlike what the Kings are trying to do with Richards, different method but same strategy. |

Kings certainly looked to, and did move on from Richards. It remains to be seen if it holds up to the NHLPA greivance. |

If it was an active Flyers player why was he hired by the NHL - VANTEL
It was stated that the job he was taking would in no way affect his ablity to play for the Flyers or Coyotes. If he came back from his injury he could do both. |

Just because you don't find it offensive doesn't mean it's not offensive to other people (him).
If he's offended respect that, don't be a (frank)ing tool about it. - KINGS67

Uh....weren't we talking about Ehrhoff ?
Although he is a left shot, my understanding is that he is used to playing the right side, which is where the Kings need help.....seems like a good signing that may have slid right into their laps when a bigger market did not materialize.....
Regarding the other "issues", lots of well-thought out opinions along with some, uh, "interesting" takes....but there are unquestionably some things that no one posting on this board knows about that will play into the ultimate resolution; we'll just have to let it play out. |

There is a reason DL left some space in the cap...One of two reasons...1. Voynov will be back. Which could explain why are D has not been addressed, other than Erhoff.
Or...
2. Dl is not sure of the outcome of Richards.
I think it more to do with Option 1 personally.
Also, this stuff about comparing Voynov/Richards and Kane....Kane is producing, Voynov is a solid D man and Richards was just plain lost and not producing. |

Ehrhoff is an awessome player. Wish we had kept him. You could've had Scuderi instead |
