Reilly Smith has some upside, I suppose. Obviously not in a straight up deal.
No way Nashville is letting go of Josi and his (what is now considered) cap friendly contract, is there? - Hesh_
You couldn't pry Josi's amazing contract out of my cold, dead hands. |

Vantel thinks sedins = crosby + malkin

I never said that. You twisted it to make it seem like I said that.
I in fact said the point difference between the Sedins and Crosby/Malkin last year is 5 PTs.
Two of them are considered elite, two are considered has beens.

That would be a great summer for the Bruins, losing Krejci, Lucic (who cares?), Soderberg and Hamilton. |

Chiarelli really f'ed up the program after they won the cup and the second run to the finals... instead of moving guys in that summer to avoid cap hell he gave guys overpayments and handcuffed the team. Much like MG did with the Canucks... to bad really. The Bs could have have two cups instead of just the one but for 17 seconds. |

I can see why Boston would want a Dman from Nashville but I must be missing something. I like many of you I'm concerned about what scorer Boston gives up under Ek's statement ""serious" scoring" & agree they have few.
If it's Eriksson; 22 goals or Marchand 24 goals; is that serious scoring? He's a solid 2 way winger that can play either wing although concussions are a concern & the fact he is a UFA after this season is a serious issue. With out additional compensation, Poile isn't giving up Ellis at a cap hit of 2.5 for 4 more years. Ellis is 2 years away from blossoming in to a top flight offensive Damn with sound positional skills, skating & transitional abilities. His 27 points in 58 games last season were impressive as a 2nd unit PP option & top 4 Dman & he may well have been Nashville's best Dman in the playoffs returning from injury.
Ellis is 1 of the new bread of Dman emerging in the NHL. Not overly big, not overly physical but sound positionally, makes great outlet passes, has solid possession stats & his contribute to the transition game is significant. How Poile got him signed for so long for so little is astounding but it's a pattern with Poile. Since the 2004-05 lock out no GM has better managed the cap. Since the last lock out 2012-13, Murray in Anaheim has been on par & as Anaheim has accomplished more since then you could say Murray has been better of late.
I just don't see the trade unless Boston is taking Elkholm. Eriksson is certainly a Poile type player & could probably be resigned for reasonable money say 3.5 for 3 years & isn't old & would fit in Nashville nicely. |

It wasn't B's fans that were discussing Smith, it was Flyers fans... So I think it can be forgiven... I for sure don't know every move that Philly has made in the offseason! |

Seems like a O-Dman and is kinda undersized.
I don't know much about him, but would almost be a duplicate of a Krug, with less scoring.
Maybe the Bs would grab a player like him and flip Krug for a D-first D-man? My thinking would be that Krug is going to want $4.5 plus long term after this season and for a PP specialist........
EDIT: does seem to have some alright possession numbers. - JIwasinskiJr
For his size, Ellis defends really well too.

44pts playing with Loui and Kelly, I can see him getting 55 playing with Landeskog and MacKinnon. |

Want Wideman back? BTL could be willing to give you guys another "deal".
Seriously though, it looks like we'll need to move out a dman at some point. Russell or Wideman could be had (preferably Wideman). We could even retain salary on Wideman. |
