"fair weather fans" - Jimmy Rollins - PhillySportsGuy
It takes a certain amount of resignation and a talent for eye rolling when you're faced with watching a losing team. Especially if you think they're out before the season begins.

And someday the Penguins might have as many Stanley Cups as bankruptcies, although there will never be as many Cups in the steel city as there were rumored relocation destinations.
Oh, and the taxpayers of Pennsylvania, including from Philly, say "You're Welcome" for the new arena. The Flyers never had to beg Harrisburg for money, or hold their city hostage. Proud history the Pens have - Jsaquella

All teams have fair weather fans. Teams are always going to have unfavorable attendance and ratings during prolonged losing.
We're getting to be about as prolonged as I'd care for right here.

I truly believe the Eagles and Flyers surprise people.
The Flyers will be a bubble team. We all know how this roster looks. If Umberger is healthy and is a semi effective 3rd liner...if Couts rounds into an offensive contributor...if Mason, Streit, G, and Jake keep it up...if Schenn puts up 25 goals...It's a lot of ifs, sure, but it's not THAT much of a stretch is it? These guys underperformed last year. I truly believe this team has what it takes to squeak in to the playoffs. Anything can happen from there. I'm excited for this season and the future, with these kids on D knocking on the doorstep.
I think the Eagles have a good shot at taking the division. I think they could be a pretty good football team. I'm no pundit by any means, but we all saw the D as the problem last year. They finally have a CB. Kiko has the ability to be a game changer down the middle. Their D line is incredible. On O, their RBs are really good. Bradford is a bit of a question mark, but so were their QB's last year and they went 10-6. Maclin and Shady are gone, but they have Agholor, Austin, and Murray. That could be a good football team.

If the D stays the way it is to start the season then they're worse on the back end then at the start of last season and that's trouble. No additions, the trading of Coburn and no player other than the inconsistent MDZ with noticeable upside. Even if the forwards improve that won't be able to offset the deficiencies in back. They won't have enough to finish above 8 teams in the East.
The Eagles will be interesting. I'll pay more attention to them this year with the Bears being complete trash.

I wouldn't be amazed if the Flyers squeaked in, they are better than last year's team and could make a push for a wild card.
I fully expect the Eagles to battle for the division, and if they manage to stay healthy, I think they're the favorites to take it. They've looked good in the pre-season, a lot hinges on Bradford staying upright, but they look like they have a good team on both sides of the ball

I don't, only posted it to show how ignorant the guy really is. The fans bases haven't shrunk, we're just saving our energy and enthusiasm for teams built to contend.
