I don't really get the hate for Canucks that have moved on. I know that Kesler is a knob and handcuffed the Canucks, but that doesn't change the fact that he is good at the hockey. As for Bieksa, he's past the best before date, but he played some good tough minutes for us. He was a good Canuck. I wouldn't be sorry to see him lift the cup. - CubanBuffet
Hate him? No. What pi$$ed me off is that other guys make mistakes and they get benched. He makes mistakes and they keep tossing him out there.
I would have sent him packing years ago... As well as Kesler.

I don't think its hate. We cheer for the crest on the front not the name on the back. He is moving on and so should we. |

He overachieved a couple years, but a legit top 4?
I look at a group like Keith, Seabs, Hjarlmarson and O'Duya and I don't think Juice is as good as those 4.
Guess that explains why we suck if he's in our top 4. - rugdnit
Come on man, you can't cherry pick the best top 4 in the league. Hjarlmarson and O'Duya would be in a lot of teams top pairing. Bieksa was a top 4, and he didn't luck his way into it. The Canucks were one of the best defencive teams in the league when he was in his prime and he had a role in that. |

Well obviously he wasn't a top pairing dman in his prime, but he would have been top 4 easily on more than half of the teams in the league during his prime years.
The numbers back me up on this and so does the "eye test" since he was viewed league-wide as a top 4 dman. |

Exactly. How many times do we have to talk about this?
This franchise loses because it's fans fall in love with players and are afraid to sell high.
Since when is the name on the back more important that the name on the front??? |

But there are a bunch of teams with way worse D then that. Hell look at edmonton, Bieksa would be a top 2 for them. |

What?
Seems like most were happy to see him go. Doesn't meant we can't say that he was a good player for us and wouldn't mind seeing him do well somewhere else. Not like ANA is keeping us from winning the cup. |

It's how this board rolls, I think the only ex player I haven't seen rampant so called rumours about is Schneider. No idea why people don't hate him irrationally either.
Even with Kesler, I don't know how you can claim to be a canucks fan of the past decade and not appreciate what he did for this club in his time here. |

I agree. I have no problems with Bieksa, and absolutely loved his time in Vancouver. He could be a bit frustrating sometimes, especially early on with his casual Kev play. The guy absolutely gave his all to the team though and I'll always appreciate that. |

So we need elite players in our top 4 and top 6 to win a cup. Seems easy enough. Bieksa was just as valuable as Oduya, if not more so when you compare their prime years. Especially for his cap hit back then.
This discussion is ridiculous man. |

Sure I can. Isn't the goal to win a cup?
Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez and Voynov?
Chara, Seidenberg, Boychuk and McQuaid?
How many teams do you want me to list? |

On another topic, I work on the railroad with this girl who bought a "plastic penis" from europe that allows her to pee standing up. How funny is that ? |

His time was up. No hate, no regrets. He gave us decent, not great years of service.
Best of luck to him, for us it's a roster spot for a younger player |

You are right. It is.
Bieksa might be top 4 on many teams. Mostly losing teams, but top 4 on those ones for sure. |

It was time to move on. He was near the end of his contract and it opened up a roster spot. I would hazard to guess that beiksa could play top four minutes and get his points for bottom feeding teams, I'm talking the Edmontons, Buffalo's, Arizona, and Torontos out there. I want'd him gone and will cheer for him against every other team but ours. |

I agree with a lot of your posts but oduya and hjalmarson would be top pairing on very few teams. I agree juice deserves more credit as a really good defender in his prime. Unfortunately he didn't age as well as some of his peers here, but I guess we should be happy Benning got an asset for him.

Hence No Cup. - rugdnit
No cup has always been from secondary scoring and a lack of depth at C. The one year we had 4 quality C's one went and got his eye destroyed.......then we had 3. We also lost our top Dman in the finals, and our 2C became largely ineffective due to injury.
We lost in game 7 of the finals.....
Pretty hard to pin that on Bieksa. |
