I gotcha John and I agree on the need for a Callahan or Peca type player. I thought a player like Fehr would have been a nice upgrade over Frans without breaking the budget. No idea why this type of move was not made and especially after another 1st round loss? - ses111
What about Brock, seems like a big solid kid. Think he might grow into the physical side of the game as he gets more comfortable? Probably was just concentrating on playing hockey and staying with the team last year. |

Brock has a lot of upside. He needs to get stronger and tougher. He does these things and he is on his way. I'm not concerned with the young talent like Brock. I'm concerned with some of the softies this team still has on the roster. |

Yeah, I was just thinking instead of going out and trying to get a Peca/Callahan type player, one of the youngsters might fit that roll. I would say KO should fill that roll but he is probably the strangest one to me. You see him go out and lay a huge hit and be crazy physical one game, then he's not physical at all for the next 10 games. |

I agree on the kids like Lee, Strome, and Lee. The problem is with guys like Frans and Bailey and Hickey and how this coaching staff does not believe in limiting minutes for these players. To me this team is just not build for a big run yet. - ses111
My point is I dont think any of us know how this team is built (least of all fans of other teams)until we see Strome in his second full year, nelson, Lee, see what Mayfield or Pulock may add, etc. None of us have anything more than an educated guess at this point. I'll say it again I would have been ecstatic if Snow added a top four defenseman of a legit winger for Tavares but I completely understand why Snow didnt without even touching on having to sign players in the near future.
Lets say Strome scores thirty goals and puts up thirty or forty assists. Lee scores thirty. Pulock steps in the line up and legitimately can handle 15 mins a night or Mayfield. DeHaan snaps back into form which to me is completely plausible. Grabovski stays healthy. Etc I think you got my point. If any, most or all of these things happen we have a legitimate contending team no questions asked IMO. This is what Snow is banking on and I dont think it's a bad play. The normal maturation of young players is what will eventually move this team forward thats what successful teams in the salary cap era do. |

I think Lee and Strome continue to improve this season. I could see 30-35 goals for Lee and 60-65 points for Strome. |

KO should be able to fit this role, but like you mentioned he can give a huge hit and then nothing for the longest time. It's a red flag for giving him a big deal and especially when the Isles seem to have a bunch of top prospects at forward. |

I think the only thing I really would have wanted to see was Nielsen and/or Grabner moved for a gritty third line center that can play the shut down role. That's one thing we are missing and it hurt us down the stretch.

No question if these things happen the Isles will be in very good shape. I still think you need to make moves to take pressure off the kids and sent a message to the team that you will not wait forever on certain guys to get it right . There are moves to make that would not mess with the chemistry or kill the Cap. You replace long time Isles like Frans and Bailey and that sends a message. |

These are the moves I'm talking about. I'm not talking about bringing in a big name that is going to cost top prospects and hurt the Cap. I'm talking common sense moves that fill a need. |

Im not happy with Nielsen either and I would have preferred him moved. I would have loved if Snow signed Fehr bum shoulder and all if he can stay reasonably healthy he's going to play an important role for the Pens. Of course a lot of this teams success rides on our coach's personnel decisions but I think we have the players to do some damage if they're put in the right places. I do agree though that third line center spot is a bit of a hole but that is also an area that shouldn't be too hard to address if its a real detriment which it very well could be. |

Totally agree Capt. there is just one very important thing missing here that teaches, develops, motivates, and molds it into a championship team. |

Grit? Toughness? Sandpaper? Fighting? Being over 6'4''? Protection for JT? A strong, reliable two-way top-4 defenseman for the price of a 2018 5th round draft pick?
