Great to see canucks hockey talk again after....well you guys know.
I think Kennins started to get away from his role as an 4th line energy player, his ice time started to diminish fairly quickly, and I'm sure WD sent him a message to play the role he was brought in to play.
I agree with both belcher and booner, I don't think Dorsett and Prust will intimidate Perry or Getzlaf, or will even try. But I also think if both were in the line-up against Calgary, Ferland wouldn't have run around unabated, so I agree with Vantel that it would have been a different series. |

I have to disagree with that last, I don't think it changes the series at all, our D-core still would have cost us that series although it probably goes the distance instead of 6. |

Everyone forwards and D were shaken and wondered what hit them. It was a huge reason their game was off. |

Totally agree about our D-core....although, instead of Bieksa mocking and belittling Ferland in the media, having Prust lay out a punishing hit or stepping up to set the tone, (not turn the other cheek like Van is know to do) may have inspired the team to play tougher.
The series is in the past, but if they make the playoffs this year (doubtful), I think things may be different, at least more interesting. |

Good Blog Carol but I feel like it was incomplete. Would be nice to have a look at the prospects who can now play for Utica. Cassels, Cenderholm, and the rest? Who is old enough and who isn't? |

Agreed. Our D was too weak. They wouldnt have been the difference but the point remains... our forward core would have played different.
The team has too many problems for a pair of bottom 6 players to solve. I've been drumming that point all along.

For the upcoming season, your spot on, which is why I think it's doubtful this present group makes the post season....but if they do, and healthy, again I think they will make life interesting. |

It's a great city. We can joke on here, but excellent food and beautiful city.
I still like Montreal more but TOR is a world class city |

I think they could make the playoffs, but not very likely, and if they do I don't think it'll be a LA Kings style Cinderella run. I think it'll be a quick painful semi embarrassing exit just like the last few post seasons. Yeah, anything can happen, but it usually doesn't. |

I like that they are finally adding players to be a playoff team. Before we shined in the regular season and got our ass kicked in the playoffs. This team could go deeper.
I am not kidding myself but at least Benning is looking at what is needed to win a PO round |

I think that's what he's trying to do, and he's upping the grit factor for sure, but our D is not playoff calibre and while Markstrom is a wild card I don't see Miller being good enough to make up for it. |

Yeah I hear ya...that's why a put if healthy, JB is trying to change the character of the team, make them tougher to play against, I don't see a Cinderella run either, but it could pay dividends....I know, dare to dream. |

True. And it's not like the dividends need to be paid this season. |

Playoff D ? Remember how great Ehrhoff was regular season yet one of our better guys in that last round was Hamhuis and Rome.
When the pressure is on some people up their game and some hide. |

Do you mean the finals? Rome was suspended and Hamhuis injured.
Against Calgary only Horvat and the Sedins upped their game. |

When Rome got suspended and Hamhuis got injured then Canucks fell apart.
Ehrhoff skated away when things got rough and Rome answered for his teammates. Sometimes 4 th line monkeys are required and it is not always about skill |
