Looks like a 3yr deal is being offered to Franson. - SABRES 89
I'm hoping money is closer to Ehrhoff than Petry. |

need some advise. Coming to Buffalo in September with the family for the Saturday night prospects game then the Bills/Indy game on Sunday. Grew up in Buffalo/went to college at UB but have lived in CT for 20 years now. Need recommendations for lunch and dinner on Saturday. Want to show the family some history (maybe Big Tree Inn for lunch) and the revitalization - Canalside (maybe 716). Any better recommendations? My wife and I have two boys (11 and 13). |

Finally made it to 716 the other day - it feels like a big sports bar. If you want to stay around the arena you might be better off going to someplace like the Liberty Hound (located inside the new Canalside museum, on the water). It feels like a real restaurant and they don't mind kids (I have three young ones).
(side note - fastest way from CT is to take route 8 north at Waterbury to the 90. I lived out there for three years ) |

If you're going to 716 around an event, especially sports, get a reservation. It's a sports bar, for better and worse, but it's a very good one.
History: Ulrich's ( http://ulrichstavern.com/) is back open and you'd be hard pressed to find a more classical spot. Anchor bar (kind of a tourist trap but still) could also qualify, or Chef's. But I'd go with a place that meant something to you, personal history over Buffalo history.
New development: 716 makes a lot of sense, or try Hydraulic Hearth - good beer, cocktails, and wood-fired pizzas. It's in the new Larkinville district and pretty convenient to the arena. Place is great inside and Larkinville is very cool. Again, you'll want a reservation. ( http://www.hydraulichearth.com/) |

Just saw the blackhawks blog. Sounds like some kind of resolution might be coming in the Kane case (misdemeanor charge). |

Thanks - I like the idea of on the water, Liberty Hound. I'll check into that. As for Rt 8, I live in SW CT (near Westchester), so it makes more sense for me to take 84 to rt 17 .... Always liked rt 17 anyway, not as boring as 90. |

Ah, nice. Other than the Franson rumors has there been anything else tossed around?

The weather is supposed to be nice so it wouldn't surprise me if the patio is still open. It is almost in the shadow of the arena so you might need reservations as well.

Looks like Ulrich's Tavern doesn't open until 3pm on Saturday's, so that won't work. Any other must visit taverns? |

Yep - they don't take reservations, which is fine. They text you when your table is ready, so, we'd explore the area while waiting (I've haven't been down there since all the development) |

On a day with light traffic, I can get to work in 25 mins. Most days it takes closer to 35. Probably at least once a week, it takes me almost an hour to get home.
I HATE the 290. |

You have no clue how much I would kill for the 290 right now...I 4 is the worst thing in the planet, and now they are beginning construction on it.
Edit: And I lived in Philly and dealt with that traffic...I 4 is still the worst |

I just get irritated because there's no reason why things should get so backed up there. Technically the shortest distance for me to get home is if I take Millersport straight into the city. But then I end up driving through the middle of the East side. Plus it takes forever because of all the traffic lights. |
