What (frank)ing price? The guy is a top 5 pick from 3 years ago.
And if he's such a longshot why would people be happy in New York? If Snow can't get it right with a #4 overall pick why is a mid first and early second going to turn out for them? - Lahey
Snow has drafted very well. I think they saw the same things with reinhart Dan petriw has and decided to move him while his value is still high. He may well develop into a top four guy, but he's not nhl ready yet. |

For one hall is a winger sequin is a center he would help your team a lot more then hall would because of position alone. I much rather have seguin and landeskog then hall and Hopkins. Also the reason for terrible defense is because u drafter one defender in the first round. You build from defense out. - Bigdog1991
Darn no Seguin. What ever will we do only having McDavid, Nuge, Draisaitl, and Lander down the middle? (frank) off chump |

This.
And his opening statement in retort that the oilers have been bad for a decade reinforces his short sightedness.
It's not simple cause and effect, it's much deeper. but he can only see it one way cause it's clear his ideas on the oilers are not only biased, but skewed.
The oilers have had many issues, deficiencies and problems over the last decade. no doubt about it.
But his rational as to what they shoulda done, or why it is the way it is, is flat out wrong - HB77
Extra little side-note he was working hard at neglecting was who the Oilers already had at the time. They had Gagner and Cogliano (21 and 23 respectively at the time) who they were likely banking on, Horcoff (31), and prospects like Lander and Eberle (listed as a C in junior). Their note-worthy wingers consisted of Penner and Hemsky in the NHL, and Paajarvi in the SEL. |

I'm not going to call reinhart a bust but if your team plays him in the nhl this year it's not going to be pretty. - Isles_since_6
played 9 games for the isles at 20, so I'd imagine 40 games for the oilers at 21 is reasonable
also the flack he gets from isles fans is overblown and hilarious |

Well, then I guess it's just an interesting coincidence that those who've seen him play pro hockey the most have the lowest opinion of him. |

He's not getting flack from islander fans he just showed jack poop at any level other than juniors. He looked bad, really bad in the ahl and he was unwatchable in limited nhl time. No one is saying that due to sour grapes thats reality. 90% of this thread didnt want to give up a second round pick for him before the trade let alone a first on top of it I know bcs I was here discussing it with Oiler fans. I'm not saying that to be a jackass I'm saying it because that's exactly what happened. What are we supposed to do twist reality to appease you?
I wish the guy the best and maybe he'll become a legit nhler but none of us are spouting off bcs hes no longer an islander. Every post from an Islander fan on here has said he may develop into something or wish him the best but from what we saw it wasn't pretty. Our blogger panned him constantly being that he watched him a ton in Bridgeport. Said he looked bad and wasn't keeping up. Very few if any fans were high on him way before the trade. Pulock and Mayfield were both light years ahead of him in their development and snow wanted to get into the first round so here we are. Guy is young and he very well may develop into the player some hoped we all know defenseman sometimes take time but lets not pretend that islander fans are unfairly judging the kid or spouting off like you're implying bcs its just not true.
The kid was getting much more "flack" from Oiler fans on this very thread before the trade when there were rumors of him being involved in a trade with your team so there's that. |

Did you see him play? Because I did and he's not nhl ready. He wasn't going to make our team this year either.
If he's being counted on to make your team this year, or worse, if they hand him a roster spot you are going to be very disappointed. You're going to have to wait for him to develop. |

The good news for us is that the team has a lot of NHL veterans ahead of Reinhart. If he earns a spot he has to beat ppl with existing and expensive contracts. So, if he does break the team out of camp it should be because he actually earned a spot.

Critical thinking, and objectivity, are two things you don't have in abundance, or easy access to, are they? What defender in the league currently, not named Ekblad, or Jones, came right out of the draft to be studs? How would drafting Murray, or anyone else you are suggesting, have made the team any better, than they have been the past 5 seasons? How exactly does Seguin over hall, change the teams fortunes, coming into the leagues, as a rookie, on a poopty team? I see that since you are confused as to the use of "than" and "then", that these points will most likely be lost on you. |

So you are saying that this low opinion of him, is based on very little time actually watching the guy. Seeing as he only has 9 NHL games under his belt? |

Yes, I have a pretty low opinion of him after 9 games. Those who saw a lot of him in Bridgeport seem to have an even lower opinion of him. |

Is this a biased view of him? Because as Islanders fans you expect a lot more out of a 4th overall pick, and feel a little burned, so the opinion is more harsh? Or from an unbiased viewpoint, does he just plain suck? |

The opinion is doubtlessly colored by the fact that he went 4th overall and there are many defensemen picked after him in that draft that have already established themselves and look to have far higher ceilings (Rielly, Dumba, Trouba, H Lindholm, Maatta).
Also, he did genuinely look, at turns, unimpressive (2nd call-up), not ready (1st call up), and, most alarmingly, horrendous (playoffs). |

Thank you. I appreciate the professional response. But that also sucks to hear, because I think Oil fans have some expectations on him, that may be too high. Hopefully just a bad start to his career, and he can improve. Luckily for him just putting on the Oilers jersey, he will instantly look better by comparison to others on the team. |

"we won the trade, we won the trade!!!"
"no, we did, we did"
dude's a 21 year old, big, physical, stay at home guy. I think his skillset and style are far from flashy and can easily be underappreciated.
I dont think hes ever going to be a top pairing stud, but I have zero issues with where hes at in his development as a 21 year old.
time will tell |

That's just it though, he's not physical. He's unbalanced and weak. Needs a lot more time.

The only fan here proving to be a rare breed is you. If you dont want to accept someone's opinion on a player or at the very least have a discussion without insulting maybe you shouldn't post on a public forum? Nothing any islander fan has said on here hasn't been 100% accurate up to this point. Who knows maybe some day he'll be the second coming of Lidstrom but up to this point he's looked bad in both the AHL and the NHL not a little bad really bad. We were all saying that before he was traded.
He was out played by both Pulock and Mayfield so it made him expendable. It was rumored that he was unhappy bcs he felt he deserved to play in the NHL the year following his draft maybe that played a part in his performance? Maybe he'll just take more time he's still young but he's literally shown nothing that he will be able to contribute at the NHL level. Im guessing this post makes me part of the rare breed. |

I'm hoping that he could be a jeff beukeboom/steve smith type of player. Big,mean dependable player. I haven't seen him since the dub, but I think he can get there. |
