I'm hoping that he could be a jeff beukeboom/steve smith type of player. Big,mean dependable player. I haven't seen him since the dub, but I think he can get there.
- doon

He very well may. He's got the tools he just didn't put it together with us for whatever reason but like I said there was a lot of rumors floating around with him being unhappy for not making the jump right away which could have played a part in his performance. Hopefully he finds his niche with your team I was initially optimistic when we drafted him.

That's just it though, he's not physical. He's unbalanced and weak. Needs a lot more time.
- Isles_since_6

k

he was a bluechipper the day before he was traded, but now hes a failed bust with no skills.

man, we got fleeced!!!!

being both an oil king and a hockey fan, ive seen enough of reinhart to have a pretty solid idea on his game. hes no superstar, but the smack you guys are talking about a kid out of diapers is sooo exaggerated.
if you we concede that u totally fleeced us and snow is an absolute genius, can we move on from this silly discussion?

Especially the Isles fan living in Vancouver. He's seen all 9 of his NHL Games, and religiously watches their AHL games. Not to mention how easy it is to catch those games live, living on the west coast.
- leonkennedy

if only they invented center ice. Oh and btw, I did NOT say I'd seen his AHL games, I said our blogger had. Reading comprehension is hard.

I also happened to say that reinhart may turn into a decent defenseman, but he's not ready. I think given how poorly he played in the NHL and how he got absolutely rag dolled and caught up ice in the playoffs, that would be an accurate assessment. But hey, why actually read what I wrote? Why not instead just make general statements when you yourself haven't even seen reinhart play at all? well done.

yet again, failed reading comprehension.

Snow has drafted very well. I think they saw the same things with reinhart Dan petriw has and decided to move him while his value is still high. He may well develop into a top four guy, but he's not nhl ready yet.
- Isles_since_6

I'm not going to call reinhart a bust but if your team plays him in the nhl this year it's not going to be pretty.
- Isles_since_6

why read what I'm writing though, it makes much more sense to just assume.

yes, because his play in juniors is relevant to his play as a pro. Clearly all junior players who struggle in the pro's just ramp it up and find their game.

there's no such thing as guys who don't develop, right?

last time - he may well develop, but if you play him on your nhl roster this year, you're not going to be happy.

the reason I wrote this is because of this line in the blog:

He expects Reinhart to play for the Oilers this season and make a serious push in camp to earn a job on opening day.

see the relevance?

funny part is I know his game pretty well.
but neither am I a huge homer.

the islander fans trying to drive home that they won the trade before anyones even laced up the skates is just a wasted read.

im very confident reinhart will be a solid contributor for the oilers going forward.
and hearing about his failed playoff game sways nothing.
will griffin be an impact player this year?--well I don't think hes gonna be fed to the wolves regardless, so that's debateable. but he'll be a solid, safe option behind the nurses's, klefboms, Schultz's at some point

and clearly all 20 year olds that struggled in the nhl according to you, could never take leaps the very next year could they? theyre destined for years and years of work I guess.

we think youre wrong, are totally exaggerating and didn't win the trade.

if you go back and reread what I wrote, you'll see that just about everything you've responded with had nothing to do with what I was saying. I know you won't, but if you get bored of your lego...give it a whirl.

What if Barzal continues to get injured and turns into a bandaid? #BustBattle

But in all seriousness, the guys is evidently doing SOMETHING right to have scored 22 points as a rookie pro Dman on a less-than-stellar AHL club while being billed as a defensive Dman. Rookie's struggle all the time when transitioning to the pros. If he can improve his skating and maintain his positioning (well within grasp at his age and physique), I doubt he has as many difficulties as he seems to have had this past season.

The comment you're reacting to was made by Chiarelli- not by Oiler fans. In fact, most of us are fully aware that he likely shouldn't make the team without notable improvements (like with Nurse). If you took the time to read past Oilers threads the way you're suggesting he should read yours, you'd know that.

the reason you got some troll skillz is cause its tough to tell when youre serious or not.

and not to say that's its totally out of the realm of possibility that some player we don't know much about today wont be considered better than taylor hall in 5 years. but...... seriously?

When I originally said that "Skjei may be better than Hall in 5 years" about a year ago, I said so in hyperbole just to emphasize Skjei's potential. It was after I proposed a trade along the lines of Skjei + Hagelin + 1st for Yakupov, in order to justify the value. He really can be a #1 defenseman if he reaches his ceiling. Will he? Who knows...

But that quote has been taken extremely literal and has gone down in Oilers blog lore as "that time that retard said he wouldn't trade Skjei for Hall". Would I trade Skjei for Hall? Hell yea. Within half the blink of an eye. But I also still think that Skjei + Hagelin + 1st would've been a pretty decent package for Yakupov too.

I have nothing against the Oilers. Love Hall. Like Eberle. Not sure about the Nuge's durability but he's good when healthy. I even think Yak will be a player if he has a coach that allows him to play his game and accepts that he's a puck wizard not a great backchecker. I like the Sekera signing. I have no reason to doubt that Nurse, Draisaitl and, obviously, McD will be players.

That said, Reinhart looks like a stiff and, unlike Tanner, I'll believe Talbot is for real (unlike Scrivens, Fasth, Bryz, Dubnyk) when I see it.

On balance, I'd be psyched as hell to be an Oiler fan right now.

Maybe in junior. Are you saying that's the same thing as the AHL or NHL?
