A total mix up in Vancouver, Kassian was the calming influence, it was all Horvat at the Roxy and Celebrities.

Doubt I watch all 82 games this year either. Benning has killed some of my hope for this team, his overpayments scare me more than they excite me. Even if they do unintentionally tank. An unintentional tank is as low as it gets, right after constantly finishing in no-man's land.
- Nucker101

I'll be somewhere around 50-60 games this year. Probably go to 5-8 (not paying for any of them).

Anyone paying for this mess deserves what they have coming.

I'd go to watch Crosby/Ovechkin but that's it

What are you going to do? I didn't spend a cent on anything NHL related for a season and a half after the lockout, but I'll pony up for a game or two this season, and barring a family emergency, watch at least 82 of them.

There's something about watching a team that has a legitimate shot that's hard to explain, but each game seems to carry more weight. The Canucks aren't that. But it's still hockey and it's still the team I cheer for.

How can you lead the charge for Tank Nation with your eyes closed?

You wanted change and high draft picks, well you are getting them.

Bro Jake just said he hung with Lucic this summer and he was really disappointed he didn't end up on Canucks. Next year is a very good possibility he will be. So we can look forward to another summer of you jumping ship again.

You say you want change but you don't even want to let go of Burrows Hamhuis and Higgins. Eller is a decent third liner with a decent defensive game but you want Burrows who is in his mid 30 s . The difference in contract costs is 800k because Eller is 3.5 for 3 more years , Burr at 4.6. Eller is 26 yrs old.

I got news for you we don't have the players in our system to step in and you will not get Brandon Saad or ROR for Burrows Higgins or Hamhuis.

Lower your expectations , last I heard they couldn't give Higgins away.

I am sure we will hear all year if Sutter scores 15 goals with Higgins or Vrbata on his line . Let's see how he plays the following year when he has Lucic and Virtanen as wingers

I care more about the jays, whitecaps and raptors at this point. Doesn't mean I like them more, just see them having a better chance to win a championship. Canucks are in a rebuild, we need to accept it and let them suck for a few years.
- Scooby_Doo

why would you cheer for toronto teams? they aren't even remotely in our part of the world...

Whitecaps, Mariners and any NbA team in the west...

Do you have the link with Lucic saying he was dissapointed? I have a feeling he gets re-signed by LA.

Why are there Yankees, Red Sox, patriots, Bengals, giants fans etc... In Vancouver? The closest nba team is Portland... 7 hour drive, I could get to Toronto before that. Not to mention every raptors game is on tv, why would I cheer for a team I never get to watch on tv?

Jays are the best team I baseball right now, it's a great feeling.

I'll attend my usual number of games because my wife and I make a weekend out of it usually. I get a game in with some beers, usually always attend the Flyers, Blackhawks, Avalanche good skating team games, and she gets a day of shopping in. I'm more interested, at this point, in seeing the kids they've acquired develop at the NHL level.

I don't agree with Scooby or Nuckers comments at all, they're not a "mess" as Nucker phrased it. They finished in 8th overall place last year and they were entertaining to watch. Are they gonna win the Cup, no, but I don't attend a regular season game expecting them to win the Cup, I expect them to entertain me while I drink my ten beer and enjoy a night out.

This year will kinda suck in that most of the kids outside of Bo aren't quite ready for the the show, although they could potentially have Virtanen, Corrado, Markstrom & Horvat in the lineup, but the next three years should be a big time transition years to younger players.

A perfect example of why Linden doesn't want a full rebuild, because fans won't support anything but winning in Vancouver, yet they say they want one??

agreed.

Don't understand how people think JB is supposed to attract players or keep them from FA if he doesn't pay at or above market rates. we'd been chasing sutter for a couple of seasons now and now we have him in the fold.

i'm not sure what Sbisa would have earned as a FA but i'm sure they wouldn't have signed him if they didn't think he'd improve or wasn't as big a problem.

It's a retool not rebuild.

If they had have done it the right way, instead of trading away draft picks and young players...I'd be on board. Instead we are stuck with Higgins, Prust, Sutter, Bartkowski and a few other plugs to get us excited? Come on man, seriously, this team will be boring as duck to watch this year.

Canucks fans are some of the worst in hockey, the majority don't know poop about the sport, the fans support a winning team. They won't be winning this year, and there will be lots of empty seats.

There's no such thing as a "traditional rebuild", unless you're talking about an Oilers all-out suckage thru total incompetence. Or a New York Islanders team drafting top ten for ten years in a row and having two first round exits for their troubles.

The Blackhawks had two down years where they drafted Toews and Kane, a 3rd overall pick and a 5th overall pick, but they won the lottery. The was the totality of their rebuild! The Canucks still have players that allow them to compete on some level, they're not selling those guys off to all-out suck….people need to get that thru their heads.

It's really about drafting well, despite your draft position, and developing those players, that's how you assemble a new core.

Benning is trading away all our draft picks for older players...explain that!

Canucks won't get a top 5 pick with the Sedins on the team, they will keep them from getting a Toews or Kane in the draft.

Losing more than you win.
Trading aging core players like Higgins, Burrows, Hamhuis and Hansen.

Acquiring draft picks instead of trading them away.

- Scooby_Doo

He's not trading away all our draft picks for older players, that's a bunch of BS. In 2014 he acquired an extra 1st round pick, an extra 2nd round pick and an extra third round pick. He drafted McCann with the extra 1st, he traded the 2nd for then 22 yr old Linden Vey and he traded the 3rd for 28 yr old Dorsett who was badly needed to this soft lineup. Total = added three picks and acquired two young players and a much needed vet.

In 2015 he traded away our 2nd for a 21 yr old Baertschi, he traded away our late 3rd in the Kesler deal but acquired an early 3rd to draft a highly ranked dman in the Lack trade. Total = down one pick but acquired Baertschi.

In 2016 he's traded away the Ducks 2nd for Sutter but acquired an early 3rd round pick from whichever of the Islanders pick, via the Pens, is the better pick. He traded the 5th for Prust and acquired another 7th for Lack. Total = we still have our 1st, 2nd, a 3rd and 4th round picks for this year. Missing a 5th but we got an extra 7th. Big deal!!

That's easy to say but not necessarily as easy to do. Those guys have NTC's, someone has to want them and you have to deal with the Salary Cap of other teams.

I agree with the sentiment in principle, but I understand this isn't a matter of just doing whatever you want….that's not reality.
