Ever since doug moran limited ej to the pocket his play wasnt the same...kinda like when the sabres didnt want myers joining the rush anymore...let the players play. Will be interesting to see tt when the defense schemes against him, but with the other weapons the bills have that will be tough too.

I think you answered your own question. Aren't we all excited about what we saw in preseason? It is the possibility. Even though it was preseason he showed us everything we would want to see in a qb. I can't remember the last time someone did that.

This is where the local media becomes such hypocrites

EJ Manuel played well, it didn't matter. Taylor plays well, it's exciting.

Can't have it both ways. They wanted Taylor from the start

It's hard to say when at training camp Manuel was consistently knocked as the least productive, and threw one into the hospitality tent.

I will say this much a Taylor/Manuel 1-2 or the other way around looks much better than it did last week before the Steelers game.

Greg Roman and his offense are built for those two.

I think Roman is good, but both Taylor and Manuel are making NFL caliber throws.

I have no issue with Taylor starting, I just don't think Manuel should get cut

This is a positively absurd statement. When any of them played well it was acknowledged that they played well. EJ had a nice game and a great game - he was given credit for that. Even if some did want Taylor from the start, so what? They are commentators and (to some degree) fans like us.

those are the playmakers...which quarterback will get them the ball in positions to make plays?

imo, taylor is third on that list behind cassel and ej

Patch, I love ya brother, but I do think you are off as far as TT goes.
He has been the most consistent/most complete QB in camp/preseason. He has worked on staying in the pocket and running as a 3rd option, not first. He can complete the long ball, and short ball...and the gain yardage with his feet. He had several TDs dropped in preseason games or his stats would have looked better.
I'm not electing him President, but he gives the best overall chance to win.

Because fans love him more than Rex and Rexy don't like that.

I think the fact that they put Manuel back in during the 2nd half pretty much confirmed that.

First, hooray for EJ resurrecting his career...speaks to the quality of the OC and Q B coaches...and for EJ executing, finally.
Now, that said...his play was as erratic as could be in the 1st half of camp...dropping snaps, multiple times per day, multiple days.
His passes were widely inaccurate, say what you will but when he threw a sideline pass and hit a tent 10 yards (30 feet!) on the wrong side of the sideline...we'll....eh, wouldn't be bad if it happened once, but many of his throws were inaccurate...out of bounds, late across the middle, in the ground for a guy 10 yards away....it goes on but too painful to list more....but his college career was also inconsistent with inaccurate throws.

Then he inconsistently progressed better the last week, 10 days.

Which guy is he?

He sure isn't your starter. Let's hope he continues to develop to be a serviceable backup.

That's not my point. When EJ played well, and people started to talk about him possibly improving, they completely discounted it. They make sure to point out how it was preseason, and how it didn't matter. Mike Schopp said numerous times how the Cleveland game did nothing to change his opinion on EJ.

Yet, somehow Tyrod impressed them during the preseason? Matthew Coller keeps talking about the 3rd down conversions against Cleveland and how that sold him.

How is it relevant for one and not the other?

Taylor also has had the luxury of sitting and developing for a few years. I just hope it pans out

And, even with the drops his stats are excellent. No td passes is irrelevant, since his drives had let to rushing tds. Look at the opening drive vs CLE, he took 9 minutes off the clock. If we give our D that much rest, look out!!!

Hell yeah It was his locker room. Rex came in 2nd. If he was Rex's boy he'd still be here.

"His" locker room wasn't much of a winner. I'm not saying it's his fault by any means, but if the locker room becomes "unglued" because of that, this team doesn't have what it takes to get anywhere worth writing home about in the first place. I'm just as sad to see him go as the next guy, but if this turns out to be that devastating, this team simply isn't worth watching to begin with.

I don't think it will be devastating but if he goes to another AFC East Team I'm sure he will try to make us pay.

They should have cut Cassel instead of Jackson and saved twice as much.

salary cap
wasn't one of the 3 they liked moving forward
he lost a step
they need to upgrade at another position
if your going to cut him, do it now so he has time to find the right team

take your pick
