Vic Carucci has on twitter that he was released. I don't like that decision at all, but there are definitely a lot of tough roster decisions they need to make. I can't imagine it was easy for them at all.

They definitely need help back there. I'm super sad about this Fred thing. I was hoping they'd let him play this year and then move him into some sort of coaching role or something after that. I hate the move, but at the same time, I get it. From a fan standpoint it's a sad day though.

As well liked as Jackson is, he isn't young, and is very injury prone. The reality is, when everyone is healthy, he's probably the 4th best back on this team.

Ummm, Fred played in 1 preseason game and it was Saturday. He finished with 48 total yards, 41 of which came on 1 run.

I love Fred. I hate this move. But the cards were stacked against him. Keep a guy who's probably in his last year or cut a guy that could be around for a few and be more of a contributor long term.

It sucks. It really does. But it's the reality of the sport.

McCoy is still younger and is the far better back when healthy. I apply the same logic with the Bills as I do the Sabres: I want to win games, not have the fans feel good about themselves. The tough reality is this: the Bills are not a worse football team with Fred Jackson off the roster. Remember, they didn't even want to re-sign him this year, until Pegula (supposedly) stepped in.
