I would also be okay with 30-35 pt seasons, my point was more that those are two guys who have the offensive potential to breakout.

Honestly not trying to rehash the Miller/Lack thing. I think Miller under-performed and is one of the few players on this roster that I expect to improve as long as he is healthy.

I know Miller was hurt and acknowledge that he didn't get a chance to turn his again IMO below average season around. His sv% ranks 24th out of 30 goalies who played at least 40 games. That is below average in my books.

Lack might of only won 12 of the last 23 games but 21 of those 23 games he provided + .915% goal-tending with the lowest being 2 games of .913 and 16 of those games being at or above .918 ( which is my mark for being above average).
Had Lack not been able to play at that level, we likely lose a lot more of those games.

I say .918 because the 15th best goalie who played a minimum of 40 games was .918%

Fair enough - although I certainly don't put as much emphasis on Sv% as you seem to. Still very useful yes, but not the entire picture. Adjusted save percentage tells a better story; Lacks adjusted Sv% from the scoring areas is not that great.

Just another player overvalued by our fans, a good backup and an ok starter, nothing more.

Fair enough, I still find it more useful then the wins/loss record that some tout as an indicator of a good goalie.
Regardless my point wasn't Lack is better then Miller rather than Lack played well down the stretch and had he not been able to play that well, our season ends a lot differently.

Also that I expect Miller to rebound and if he (and to a lesser extent Markstom) can do that, I see this team being as competitive as last year.

I think they'll certainly be competitive, and, I'd much rather have Markstrom behind Miller than behind Lack. For various reasons.

Players out are Matthias, Kassian, Richardson & Bonino, that's 51 goals, I think? Gonna need some players to step up and fill those holes in the goal scoring department.

Sure I can understand the sentiment that Miller is a better option as a mentor and should in theory provide more stability in net.

I'm still not confident that Markstom will be relevant at all.

As far as goal scoring goes, I think Baertschi, Vey and Sutter will have to carry the load.

Baertschi did score 2 in 3 games, thats a 55 goal pace, what are we worried about ?

That can take RH faceoffs. Very important piece of the puzzle. Just think next year we won't have to chase the puck for twenty seconds witha second line C that can actually win
- VANTEL

I see the very same thing. Suter is definately an upgrade for us.

I'm like Vantel, I'm tired of the soft, perimeter puck possession type team. I want a team that's going to ram the puck down your throat, instead of playing keep away in the corner until the pretty pass/perfect shot opens up.

Exactly.....its whats been driving me nuts for years. They started this play 1st year AV was here and still play that way. No coach has changed that.

Its actually why I like mathias, he would drive straight to the net and bury it. It was so refreahing for a change.

To be fair to Eddie, Jacob Markstrom played one of those final 23 games and got the win against Arizona.

Which I think was a shutout too

Should be OK.

Sutter and Horvat should both flirt with 20 or more and filling the remaining 10 goals or so can get filled by Baertchi.

He WILL be working with a rather esteemed goalie coach this year, though. David Marcoux has a pretty good reputation of taking goalies with decent raw talent and making them stars, See: Kipprusoff, Miika

Aside from Kipper, name one goalie that Marcoux turned into a star. I wouldn't exactly call him esteemed.

Francois Allaire was esteemed.
