Tazer...and he's the most "important" player to a team in the entire league and I think he's the best player as well. - MexicoHawk
I'd say Keith is the most important player to the Hawks. I can't see them winning this cup without Keith.
I don't like Keith at all based on some of his behavioural issues. But he's the team's best player. if you take JT out of the mix, the Hawks can still win. If you take Keith out of the mix, then there's no chance they get by... |

On a lighter note...
A Blues fan liked to amuse himself by scaring every Red Wings fan he saw strutting down the street in Wings hockey jersey. He would swerve his van as if to hit them, then swerve back just missing them.
One day while driving along, he saw a priest. He thought he would do a good deed, so he pulled over and asked the priest, "Where are you going, Father?"
"I'm going to give Mass at St. Francis church, about two miles down the road," replied the priest.
"Climb in, Father. I'll give you a lift!" The priest climbed into the passenger seat, and they continued down the road.
Suddenly, the driver saw a Red Wings fan walking down the road, and he instinctively swerved as if to hit him. But, as usual, he swerved back onto the road just in time.
Even though he was certain that he had missed the guy, he still heard a loud THUD. not knowing where the noise came from, he glanced in his mirrors but still didn't see anything. He then remembered the priest, and he turned to the priest and said, "sorry Father, I almost hit that Red Wings fan."
"That's OK," replied the priest "I got him with the door." - stljam

Time will tell whether you are correct as Keith will decline in the next few seasons..... I would argue the Hawks are "just another playoff team" without EITHER of them. Certainly Keith is amazing and I love him as a player, but I think Toews is the most important player bc of his faceoffs, PK, and PPG scoring pace....all while focusing on defense first. Can't go wrong with either player when building a great team, but I disagree that the Hawks win a Cup without Toews.

So it's come to this. The Hawks tell JJ they WANT to stand behind Kane, but there's 0% chance he starts the season in uniform. They tell Mex they dont want to suspend him on the eve of camp...but they are being FORCED to? For what? All they can prove right now is he went to a night club, had some drinks, and brought back a one-night-stand? Who's casting the first stone on that? The rest are allegations he vehemently denies, and the Hawks can't and shouldn't want to prove in advance of the criminal process. The union will eat that up. - meta_puck_luck
Clever use of (or lack of use of) context. If I were you, I'd be going hard after EA Sports and the London Knights (for starters). Don't mean to be snide, but you're kinda casting stones because a "selection" of facts allows you to.
The Hawks have to (and will) take into consideration the fact that this is the 4th "incident" Kane's been involved in since 2009, 3 of which allegedly involved violence, all four of which definitely involved alcohol. After the last (publicized) incident in 2012, kane allegedly swore he'd clean up his act.
As I've said before it's real easy for posters here to play fast and loose with the Hawks' money, but to them it is real money, they have a successful hockey team to run. This stuff can't keep happening, and the FULL CONTEXT suggests it will unless something significant changes.

Zero questions in my mind, Hoss is a sure-thing HOF. - MexicoHawk
He will retire with 3 Stanley Cups (at least), 500+ goals, 1000+ points, as one of the better defensive forwards to ever play the game, the face of hockey in a small but important nation in the hockey world. Also a consummate sportsman.
There is no debate. Next question.
I read the article, too, and Bryan Trottier should absolutely be in the HOF. |

Got into a debate with a friend that's a casual Blackhawks fan, more into baseball, when Kane was injured last year. He thought the Hawks were through. I told him no, no, now if it was Keith that was out they'd more likely be done.
Of course he thought I was nuts. Tried to explain to him there's no way you replace Keith, the minutes he plays, the quality of his defensive play etc.... Couldn't convince him.
After the Hawks won the cup and Keith was the MVP, I ribbed him a bit and he finally acknowledged I was right! |

No I said this: ”allegations he vehemently denies" Really I missed that, when did Kane come out and say that?
In relation to this: “So it's come to this. The Hawks tell JJ they WANT to stand behind Kane, but there's 0% chance he starts the season in uniform. Yep, the most important player on the Blackhawks is The Captain - he sets the tone and is the leader in every way possible for the team on and off the ice - and Seabrook is the most important player for Toews to do what he does.
Keith is the 2nd most important player on the team, IMHO. Kane 3rd. Seabrook 4th, Hossa 5th, then Hammer, then Crawford, then Kruger.

At some point, not exactly sure when, the Selke evolved from an award for best defensive forward, to best defensive center. |
