The difference is that any perceived screw up Bettman has, far fewer people pay attention. Any time the NFL is involved in something like this, it's national news, not just national sports news.

Those NFL TV deals will continue to get bigger no matter who is the commissioner.

Goodell has nothing to do with the TV deals, the NFL sells itself a monkey could do the marketing for the NFL. All he does is mess things up, and he does it in the spotlight of national media. I dont think he will be commish much longer, i cant imagine owners are happy with him and we already know that the players aren't.
