We had a number of discussions, but his final decision was that this was what he felt he needed to do," he added.

I don't think Kessel will go very much higher beyond his regular 38. Yes Crosby will help, but there's less touches touches in Pittsburgh too - lots of guys to share the puck. In Toronto he was the only guy.

Everyone's being cautious about his production and coming up with (moot) reasons for him not to have a killer year. But here's the facts. He's now playing with the best player in the game, not bozak. He'll have more motivation because the team will be good. He'll score more on the PP. He's still in his prime. Better coach. Less media distractions.

yep, also lost 13lbs this off season because he was actually training, not gonna be the main focus of the opposing team. I dont understand how someone can say in the same sentence or have the thought "..hes gonna get his usual 38, sure playing with Crosby will help."

Kessel has a bunch of reason to score this year. I think he goes for the Art Ross. He's a pretty good passer and now he has guys who can seriously finish other than just JVR. 100 pt season/career year.

I agree Kessel could have his best year with Crosby, but even if he did score 38 and add 40 something assists, that would be a top ten or five in scoring. The scoring race is pretty tight, when Benn wins it and nobody gets more than 90 points, I hesitate to say Kessel is going to get 50 and 100 points.

Nice that he decided to get in shape this year. Really changing things up.

I like to be optimistic. I like the guy. I felt he got a lot of blame for no reason due to media mostly.

I think it's 45 goals and I don't think 55 assists is difficult if he strikes great chemistry with Crosby or Malkin. It's within the realm of possible.
