I'm just a little more pissed off than usual with the organization because my wife reminded me last week that we spent over $80,000 in season tickets and playoffs. That's 16 seasons of putting my support (emotional and financial) behind the canuck brand only to watch implosion after implosion. Last seasons the wife and I said enough is enough.
When I say people celebrate mediocrity I mean it’s the blind enthusiasm that baffles me. I don’t see how people can be optimistic about this team when failure has followed this franchise since day one. I’m not talking about the players (who many are my sports heroes) I’m talking about ownership and management. Why should I be optimistic when history says I shouldn’t be? Will this management team be any different?
I’m not overly impressed with what I’ve seen so far.
Having a genuine superstar(s) on this team would help cover up the inevitable (frank) ups that owner/management will create. Getting that superstar is a whole lot easier when you have a top three pick.
Oh yeah, my dealer is away so I havent had a good blast in weeks. Might have something to do with current mood... - bloatedmosquito
Wow that's some serious coin you've invested, that's like 3 months of Lefties yearly salary. You have every right (as does everyone) to be critical and gun shy of ownership and management.
I was pointing out that I haven't noticed anyone praising JB completely and wholly, and when change was wanted it, it wasn't what was wanted by some, and became a rally point for more negativity.
Cheers, Bloated

Still waiting on everyone to join. If we need a replacement or two I'll need to ask the new guys what days/times work for them as well. |

45 years of patience. - bloatedmosquito
Totally understand, you invested yourself a lot more than most with your tickets. That said, IMO you've gotta separate this management team from all previous, they can't undo the past.
The Canucks previous draft record is full proof they've never been fully committed to the draft and develop system, and it's quite obvious in the results. One of the two times they did get it right, drafting Bure and Linden, they made some trades for to surround those two with talent and they almost won a Cup.
The other time is when Burke, not thru drafting and developing though, drafted high twice in the same year thru his forte of trading, and they again went to game seven of the Cup finals when Gillis was able to surround the twins with enough depth and talent.
I, for one, am excited about building thru the draft with Benning and Linden. I don't have a horse in this race other than my spare time and a few bucks for the games I go to. I'm patient because this isn't my passion, my family, my friends, my life and my work are my passions….this is simply entertainment.
I have no control over what they do with the team, but I'm finally hopeful they've got it right and are heading in the right direction! |

I agree, but in the middle/late rounds you can't keep using the "well we didn't draft top 5" excuse. I find it hilarious how much some teams overthink things and draft inferior/role junior players and pass on guys who are star/core players at the junior level and then wonder what went wrong.
Most of the good role players in the NHL today were star/core guys in junior levels of hockey and simply adjusted their game in the pros since the competition is obviously way better. Everyone usually moves down a notch or two. So the 3rd/4th junior liner some teams waste picks on falling down a notch or two in the AHL/NHL leaves them on the outside looking in(again, not all of the time but it's a near-lock).
Obviously there's some unique cases where there's a player playing on a stacked junior/college/euro team with some older talent and he's not getting PP/top 6 time and such. But typically you're lowering the odds even further than they already are by drafting a depth/role junior player and somehow hoping he can do the exact same in the nHL when in reality almost everyone moves down a notch. - Nucker101
I agree, they have to make the third, fourth and fifth rounds count. It's hard and near impossible to make it happen every year, no team does that consistently or you'd see it in the draft history.
Benning's had two drafts, I don't put much stock in year one because of the timing of his hire, I do however, hold him accountable for this years class from rounds one thru seven. Those picks won't be ready for a number of years though…so I guess we'll see??? |

Nucker - what's the deal with roster spots from guys who aren't playing anymore? Do I get a draft pick or simply add a player. Example would be Eric Cole, I don't think he's in the league anymore but he was on my roster last year. |

No one can keep their entire roster of players unless they simply don't want to draft anyone. You have to make room for your new draft picks, if you don't have picks but want to cut a player, you'll have to wait until after the draft.
I'll make a post about it on the league message board once we get everyone joined up. |

No, that's why I changed it to future 1st line center, I think that the twins can still be first line players for another couple of seasons then start transitioning down the lineup.
I don't think its out of the question to think that they (like Zetterberg or datsuk) can continue to put up points into their late 30's.
Or we can follow the leaf model and claim that Reinhart will sign with us on day one of his UFA year as he has openly stated that its always been a dream of all of the brothers to play for the canucks, presto our future first line center. |

Managerial accounting is pretty easy ...I liked it better than other accounting courses
Is managerial economics a combo of micro and macro or are those just prerequisites for it ? |

Yeah, I've heard good and bad things about it. Seems like it depends a lot on the prof(which is usually the case).
They're prerequisites for it. I've heard it's hit or miss, you either do pretty good or barely pass/fail. |
