Just using the past 2 yrs as a reference point, Hamhuis should draw a 1st plus but I doubt Vrbata does. A 2nd and prospect - Bieksa#3
Going by last years, hamhuis should be able to get a first, third, and prospect (of course not a top one but still good) and vrbata if played with the sedins will rack up points again to make a team overpay at the deadline |

Just remember Vanek couldn't get a 1st
Seems fair to place Vrbata in the Matt Moulson ilk
Guys of Vrbatas ability who got a 1st over the past couple yrs had a yr remaining on their contracts. |

I hope this is the case, I think Vrbata might garner a better return earlier in the season, for a team trying to make the playoffs, than at the tdl. His playoff production looks like . But he has to be worth at least a 2nd rounder, and still wouldn't be surprised to see a first for him.
Most on here want JB to trade him or both but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen if we are in a playoff spot. |

It would be good if Vrbata played with the Sedins to increase his point totals, I don't think we have the team to make the playoffs, so I hope an inflated Vrbata could draw a first at TDL.
As KB3point0 says we should have some optimism with the younger players coming in. |

barring injury they will atleast be in the running for a playoff spot. Thus, the TDL day may not be what we hope. Will all these expiring contracts just walk? That would be the worst case scenario. |

I haven't read one poster say, holy bat guano Benning has nailed every move he's made, yes yes yes we will be mired in mediocrity for ever, this is awesome.
But I certainly have seen posters in here demand change, expect change, will not support the team until change is made. Then lo and behold change is made, but now it's the change will not make us tank for a top 3, the change will not take us to the holy grail, the change is an over payment, the change is the player is not quality enough, so these individuals that perceive they know better and could do better really need to stop being hypocritical.
Not sure when people are going to get it, who here is celebrating mediocrity. - Makita
Uhmmm excuse me Mr. Makita,
Several days ago I did post exactly what you are saying was not posted.
You sir are flagged
Benning = Awesome
every move that he has made is a carefully calculated adventure into future success.
I mean he turned a 5th round pick Defencemen into a top prospect defencemen Super awesome!!
He even managed to unload an over-rated Defensive prospect in combination with a miscast underpaid(Would be looking for a burrows style raise in the next contract) 2LC into a solid 2 way center who he then managed to sign long term for market value(considering inflation Sutter will be below market value by the time his contract expires).
Sbisa and Tanev together have the tools of a true number one defencemen. Sbisa the physical tools and Tanev the smarts. And they are both signed to term without a NTC!!!!! how Awesome is that, I mean its totally Benning right
Booo to band wagon jumpers who flee at the first bit of negativity, Boo to those who think that by having a 101 point season the Canucks missed an opportunity to draft higher, what do you want to be the leafs, screw that dead monkey
Yeah to those willing to get there hands bloody to the bone defending there team from outsiders, yes let us disagree with one another but those of us willing to betray their Canuck family should be scorned for being the limp wristed, desk humping turncoats that they are.
Stand firm in the darkness friends, don't allow others to cloud your team allegiance. Once we (this year or the next decade) once again boot stomp the competition into submission, those of weak will, will once again return to the fold, and we can together scorn them as second class fans of a first class organization run by men of vision and honour!
All Hail and bow before Linden and his chosen one, Benning.
Everything is gonna be just Benning

Isn't "knocking on the door" the problem that some people on here have with JB's moves? Once again, I'm tired of celebrating mediocrity. - bloatedmosquito
The thing is, as long as the twins are here they'll probably be knocking because they're still competitive, I don't see that as a "problem".
Getting rid of the twins is not an option, people need to deal with it. They've got a few good young players in the mix now, things are going to be ok.
You can't build a championship team in 12 months!! |

Arizona got a 1st + for Vermette. If Vrbata has another year like last year he'd get us at least a 1st. |

It would really speed up the rebuild on the fly,Benning even said last year he expects this draft to be as deep or deeper then 2015, so even extra second and thirds would help, alot of good picks fell into the second round - phyllee
This should be the year for the Canucks to sell at the deadline. Great opportunity to stockpile picks to either draft prospects or package up and flip for a young D man. |

Exactly, ship out expiring contracts, get lots more picks/prospects. And since hes from here we can trade hamhuis and sign him again next year, or go younger |

Vrbata > Vermette - KB3Point0
I certainly don't agree.
Vermette struggles in Chicago. But was a very good player in phx. Let's keep in mind who their linates where in Vancouver and Arizona. And Vermette is a far supiorior 2 way player. When Vrbata didn't have the Sedins he wasn't very good. |
