They get respect from Canucks fans and the Swedes. That'll do.
They'll have to settle for the accolades of having their jersey's retired some day.

I'd imagine they are going to be first ballot hall of famers as well!

I'm just a little more pissed off than usual with the organization because my wife reminded me last week that we spent over $80,000 in season tickets and playoffs. That's 16 seasons of putting my support (emotional and financial) behind the canuck brand only to watch implosion after implosion. Last seasons the wife and I said enough is enough.

When I say people celebrate mediocrity I mean it’s the blind enthusiasm that baffles me. I don’t see how people can be optimistic about this team when failure has followed this franchise since day one. I’m not talking about the players (who many are my sports heroes) I’m talking about ownership and management. Why should I be optimistic when history says I shouldn’t be? Will this management team be any different?

I’m not overly impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

Having a genuine superstar(s) on this team would help cover up the inevitable (frank) ups that owner/management will create. Getting that superstar is a whole lot easier when you have a top three pick.

Oh yeah, my dealer is away so I havent had a good blast in weeks. Might have something to do with current mood...

We have two on the team right now, if by superstar you mean top 20 in the league.

I'm low myself, I have 5 babies out on the farm but they are a good three weeks away from giving birth to wonderful relaxation medicine.

Edit:
I totally highjacked the oilers thread and pushed it to 4 pages of trading one of their forwards.

here here.
There is no reason to think that we can't continue to be competitive, draft and develop prospects and sign quality free agents (all of whom can be traded for picks/prospects to keep the flow of talent coming).

There will be no intentional tank.

That is why i'm not opposed to trying to get Franson this year and Lucic next year.
Bring in quality that can either push your team into the playoffs, or allow you to trade (either them or other expendable assets) at the TDL for more high draft picks.

Hmm Detroit?

What is it? 17 of the 23_roster players were drafted after the 1st round.

NHL-wise, they still are. Not their fault the rest of the team is full of tweeners.
- Nucker101

(frank)ing Weber is gonna have to get a whole lot better to be a tweener. Useless cun+

we can all find exceptions from the norm. Detroit's management structure could be considered one of the best in pro sports. Our franchise would have to have a miraculous turn around to match that level of excellence.

I don't think that is a realistic expectation out of this current iteration of ownership/management.

Can not do. You need a prescription. Therefore it's on my medical record. My employer has access to my medical record. They would be not too pleased with that.

I'm forced to go underground.

Have you seen regular poster say every Benning move has been terrible?

I don't understand what your point is?
There are some on here who are more vocal of their criticism or Bennings moves as there are some who are more supportive.

Wanting change, doesn't go hand in hand with criticizing Benning's moves either. Criticism of moves doesn't mean you are hypocritical or that you don't want change. It just means you disagree with what happened.

You talk of hypocrisy and then insinuate that criticizing Benning's moves make you a know it all...... But supporting his moves doesnt?

I agree with many of your posts and can understand how it is annoying to read the criticism of the same moves over and over again but give your head a shake with the "these people who perceive they know better and could do better" stuff.

Have you not read Nucker's posts for the past 5 months!

Roaches are the first to go. Oily paper and all. I've cut open the baggies and scrapped out the dust stuck to the inside. Even scrapped off the residue on the scissors.
