Easy there kaptaan. I think you are taking it all too litterly. I think the fans know that the current roster is not bad enough to get a top 3 pick, nor is it good enough to win a stanley cup. Take a look at MOST of the teams who have won a cup in the last decade and most have a top 3 pick get them there. I think it's tough for fans as they realise we need a number1 defenseman and some high end scoring talent forwards in order to become elite like the other teams. I don't want to see the Canucks in the bottom of the league EVER, however, I want success and I am ready to pay the price for that success.

yeah, i agree with your post... it's the people who seem to revel in anything remotely negative about the team, yet claim to be fans...
if we end up with a lottery pick by missing the playoffs and end up with Austin Matthews or we trade some guys for 1st round picks at the deadline cuz we aren't in a position to get into the playoffs and those guys are UFAs we aren't going to sign... I'd be okay with that as well.
also, some pos might think i'm fascist, but those people in history have been hard core socialists/ totalitarians like HItler or mussolini and i'm anything but a supporter or left wing socialism or similar ideology.

I see his frustration, but he has to be rational. This team is not going to be a contender with its current roster. The majority of the fanbase know this and are saying "we know its a stretch for us to make the playoff's, why waste time in getting a 15-20 overall pick and not make the playoff's when we can not make the playoff's and get a top 10 pick who eventually could be a franchise player". I see both sides, you never want to see your team as a bottom feader NHL club, but for the sake of the future, you have to understand other people's opinions in wanting a top 3 pick in a another good draft class. - Codes1087
if we bottom out for no lack of trying to succeed due to injuries, etc... the way Anaheim did a couple years back or some of the other teams have then that's fine... i think the organization and culture should always be about winning otherwise we end up being like some shiite franchises with an acceptance of mediocrity and failure year after year such as edmonton/ toronto... |

Quotes aren't working for me..
Anyhow, Kaptaan - I see your frustration when it comes to people constantly finding things to whine and cry about. The season hasn't started and you can find people make personal projections about players that are now in a different environment, different coach, different linemates, difference conference, etc, I know it gets old real fast. I just want to win, really badly. I know 2015/2016 wont be the year, and I think all of the league/everyone on this site knows this. So why not blow it up and make something of it, rather than pick between 15-25 again. Benning needs to sell high at the TDL with Hammer/Vrby/Prust. Need to get some high picks in the 1st round, draft, develop, and set us up to be a contender in the next 5 to 10 years. I have been a fan for a long long time, and will remain to be one for a long long time, so let's finally get things going in the right direction. |

People are fans either way. I hate when someone nominates themselves as President of the fan club and decides who should and shouldn't be qualified as fans.
The reason they want a fast turnover because there is no hope in hell that the aging Burrows Higgins Hamhuis Vrbata Prust are going to lead us to a cup challenge. The people wanting the higher draft pick is so they can see their team as a contender and not a first round ass kicking receiver.
There is more than one way to skin a cat and just because you chose one way , doesn't mean the other ways are wrong |

This exactly. Only thing ill add is every fan wants to the Nucks to win the cup no doubt. Difference being some seem to be okay with maybe making the playoffs and maybe not as you stated picking 15-25 where as others like myself want them to start moving assets for picks, getting additional cap space so that when we are ready to turn the corner we can then bring in some key players like buffalo did. We are basically 3 years in to a rebuild anyway with the amount of 1st rounders we've had. |

it looks like the top 3 draft picks of 2016 are a step and a half above the rest of the draft. No disrespect for any of the other 1st round projections, but all I keep reading online is Matthews, Chychrun, and Puljujarvi. Lets not waste any more time, lets sell high at TDL, get a pick in the top 5, aim for a solid 2 year plan to play catch up to the other top teams in the league, and get this team turned around |

The next 3 players brown, jones and tkachuk wouldnt hurt either. I wonder where Sean Day will go?? Hopefully low enough to grab with a second 1st acquire for one or both of Vrabta or Hamhuis |

When we get rid of players at TDL it will be nice to promote players like Gaunce Grenier and Pedan and see how they compete at a NHL level.
Maybe one turns out NHL ready and saves us from a bit of UFA shopping next year |

I don't think any team that will be classified as buyer's or team's wanting to take a run at rental players will have 1st round picks in the top 10 or 15. I can see contenders taking a run at these players if they are looking poised to make the playoff's and make a deep run, but I certainly don't foresee a top 10 pick coming back for either of them. Unfortunetly... |

If we were well out of a PO spot by TDL do you think it's possible to move any one (or all) of Hamhuis-Edler-Burrows and Higgins? I think Hammer and Edler would draw a bit of return but if Burr and Higgy have 10 goals by then it could be tough to get good picks back. Gotta hope that Burrows and Higgins flirt with 20 goals...

If you said that to me 5 years ago I would have said you were crazy. Now, I don't know if I would be willing to do all 3 first rounders for a top 3 pick, but would be a HELL of a lot more willing to see a trade like that. |

Vrbata might get a first if he eclipses 30 goals but getting a first for Hamhuis those days are past. |

no. Just getting the first post out of the way so I can respond to folks. Don't know why Ek and crew designed the new site that way. Seems strange. |

Depends on how high the 1sts are, teams don't just look to trade top 3 picks these days.
I'm expecting a 1st + potentially a OK prospect for Hamhuis and a 2nd + decent/OK prospect for Vrbata. |

Im expecting us to finish the season with a top 10 pick. The others will get us that 18-30 overall pick. Hopefully Day slides like Barzal did this year. |

Franson got a 1st plus. Hamhuis is a hell of a lot better player. He played with Weber last year and still looked okay to me. |

Really hoping we get a top 6 pick. Then deal those 2 for 1sts. If I have to hire someone for some voodoo magic to win the lottery |
