for example remember back many years ago (20+) when Detroit couldn't win a game? They were todays edmonton or toronto. Through drafting they became a powerhouse.

If anyone should be nervous it should be Edm, Cal, and Win management/ownership. Expectations are high. They got to produce. Fans expect it now. The presure it totally on those franchises.

But they are over 5 years away from getting new hot dogs, so we have them beat there.

Edmontons top 2 defenceman would be our bottom pairing. They will not product unless they trade for an upgrade on the back end.

Calgary will regress and miss the playoffs due to fancy stats, so many last minute comebacks, even with Hamilton they won't be quite as good this year, next year however they will be quite good.

Winnipeg, shiet I want them to succeed, it depends if they can resign the expiring UFA's as they will have to trade them if they can't resign them. Like edmonton is is to attract ufas and the can't afford to let any walk for free.

Vancouver is in the best spot with regards to the immediate future, goods thing I don't belive in long term thinking or I'd be worried. I belive the canucks will be the top Canadian team in the west, I don't see any other team topping them this year. 😎🔜but not yet.

Any ideas concerning the line combos for the YoungStars?

Personally, would love to see a Shinkaruk-McCann-Virtanen deployment at some point, though I bet those three will be dispersed over the three games

Not that we stack up very well at all against the likes of EDM-CAL-WNP systems but at least that line should prove entertaining (hopefully).

Wow that Benning, signing an injured coach. How can we trust him with other contracts and trades.

Nope...
There is an optimistic hope but not an expectation. I think a regression would be a disappointment but not a scenario where we demand the heads of the coaches and management. (Most) Flames fans expect the same effort level and a similar points total whether that's good enough remains to be seen. Honestly the McDavid factor puts the Oilers ahead of Calgary or Winnipeg on the pressure front.

I think we will likely see a top line of those 3.

I would like to see a line of
Gaunce Cassels Petit

as a shutdown line and see how they do against the McDavid's, Ehler's etc.

At this point I'd probably take hamhuis tanev edler ...but after that is take the oils next 4-5 d men before any Canuck D...and in a year or two you might have 1-2 Canucks D that could play bottom pairing for the oil

Flames won't regress into a 11/12 place team all the advanced stat geeks say they will ...between their additions and the kids being a year older they won't have to make all the crazy comebacks they did last year as they won't be trailing as much

The jets are a team I like ...they might have the best future any Canadian team

Canucks are in the best spot right now ? Hmmm maybe if The Aquillinis purchase a time machine ...but unfortunately this team is trending towards a 10th place western finish

You'd think if the Aquilinis had a time machine they would go back and not build leaky condos instead of anything for the hockey team.

This. I think the Jets will be the CDN powerhouse by 2019-20. I still think te Nucks are in a better position than EDM-CAL-TOR but not by much and it is changing rapidly. MTL is still in a pretty good position to succeed. Calgary will regress a bit as VAN should. Prob by 5-6 pts easily in the standings. Calgary still has a real lack of depth scoring and as good as the D and the youngsters are...I don't think they have the consistency yet to play above all those 3rd period comebacks...yet.

How are the Canucks in a better position than any of them?
