I know. I'm one of those weirdos that watch pretty much any hockey game that's on. So I've seen him play and I know he's a good player. I just don't like that 7.5 is the bar that's been set for guys like Eichel who we know are going to produce at a higher rate and aren't exactly slouches in the other situations as well.

Very true. The cap going up would definitely make me feel more comfortable overall. I guess I'm just nervous that it won't go up that much due to the fact that the Canadian dollar is very weak right now.

risto has not looked anywhere close to an all star yet
girgens is a plugger that will cap out around 5 mil (worst case)
the only thing that may come close to a 7 mil deal per in the next few years is kane

gionta and gorges will be off the books in a few years

team is fine cap wise, add a few short term deals IMO

It's going to be a lot of fun to watch this offense in the coming years. I really don't see a lot of teams having anywhere near the center depth that we have (except Edmonton) Eichel, Reinhart, Girgensons is going to be a pretty nasty set down the middle. And with ROR and Ennis being able to fill in on injuries just adds to the depth.

I would also like to see our fourth line being Folingo, Larsson, Del. Three guys who know who to be a pest, can play a solid defensive game, can hit, fight, and put up maybe 40-45 goals. It don't get much better on the fourth line.

Stamkos is coming off a broken leg and seems as if he's lost a step with that, and Kane still has a jury out on him that might have him spending the next several seasons in the holding center. Stamkos broke his leg a season and a half ago. He's fine. I think you're looking to find reasons not to do it just so that you're not saying "I just don't want to."

Like I said, I do not think that its going to happen. However, with all the assets that the Sabres have amassed over the past few years, they are going to have to keep shipping them out. There is no way to sign all of them. I think thats why Murray isnt afraid to over pay as long as he gets the guy he wants.

I agree with your point on Kane, but I cant imagine that Kane, the Blackhawks, and the NHL aren't begging this young lady to settle, whether it is legit or not. So I dont think its ever going to go before a judge.

But the fact remains Stamkos had 72 pts. last year coming off the injury and he was on a very offensively talented Tampa team, he's not as fast as he was, and for the 10+ million a year his contract extension is going to command, he's not worth it. He should be putting up a 100 pts on that team in a full season.

As for Kane, well until this mess all gets figured out, he's nothing but poison. 10.5 million dollars a year poison.

"Good" news is he got that after what, 6 years? Though I guess the "bad" news is he was already paid highly after about half that time.

Though, to be fair, Eichel is gonna get paid big after his ELC if he holds up to the hype anyways, so it doesn't really matter.

Agreed. We've shipped out a lot of prospects already without having really seen their full or even part of their potential. We've picked up Kane, RoR, Lehner, Bogo. Leave the team be for now and see what we have before changing it up again.
