nothing against Glencross, but NHL teams (management, coaches) keep having an unnessesary bias in favor of 'older / veteran' players.
there are various studies that alot of 30y+ players are given more icetime than younger players (18-23y), while the younger players consistently had better point/60 production and no further 'negative' effects (ie more penalty minutes or more goals against when on the ice).
Glencross if making the team will take away the spot of one of Leafs younger guys, while his expected 'production' is lower than these younger players.
'Intangibles' (leadership, experience in crucial situations etc) might matter but to what extent does Glencross bring this to the team, and to what extent to Leafs actually need this (Robidas, Polak, a few others already being there).
Glencross will probably make the team, will have some nice numbers, but the opportunity costs might be higher than necessary (Leivo, others falling out of the team). - MaximusAurelius
I think they want to finish near the bottom again and trade guys like Glencross, Setoguchi etc at the deadline for picks.
Leivo and his ilk ( Percy, Loov, Leipsic) will have to show in camp they are better than the vets. Hopefully they do.
Father and i apply partners..We have a cabin in a somewhat remote hunting area on Northern pen ..Missed one yr since 2009,licence usually "Bull only" but it's not a heavy hunted area so success not a issue......

This time of year, go out,,,, give a call, and let them come to you.
the bolded part is why Detroit never brought prospects up early.
before Summer we had a similar discussion on here, and I think it was about 20y ago that Detroit drafted a player in top10.
So Detroit's 'model' is not a model of choice, but a model of 'only option'.
top10 picks normally differ in need for development time, especially FWs and especially in current NHL. I don't think anyone is expecting Bracco, Korostelev etc. to make Leafs' roster before 2018/2019 season. - MaximusAurelius
Marner might get some games this season, but he will be playing jr this season and thats fine, not with the leafs.
i think he gets a chance the following year after some time with the Marlies, getting called if he is dominating halfway or later in the season
