Gaunce looked ok.
- boonerbuck

Gaunce was good. And Virtanen had some good power moves. That defence though.

And that poor goalie. He didn't get a ton of help but he didn't give much either.

All in all, it was nice to watch some hockey. But Edmonton's prospect pool is just too deep. And it wasn't even their top teir guys that killed us, we actually did a pretty good job against them, it was the teir down. We don't have a teir down.

This team needs a D-man in the first or or high second round.

I can't remember the last time we drafted a d-man in the first or second.

I think it was Luc Bourdon

They tried hard this year, but couldnt get another pick from what i can remember. I like the US kid they took, but should of traded down an pick up two 2nds. They could of got alot of guys in the second this year.

Just stop, wait tell the oilers play 40 games this season to see what they have before they even think about trading for anyone. lol
- FiretheGM

True.

But it's freak out Friday and there was hockey today so. ...

If you wait you'll be neat the bottom of the pile trying to lose for Mathews.
Then you'll have even more centre's to trade
Yaks value will continue to fall and he'll be headed for Moscow by new years
Mcdavid will push RNH down to the 2nd line before the nuge gets hurt and the good Dr Dre will step into the void further decreasing the trade value. Pc will get fired and McTavish will once again screw the pooch to consecutive last place finishes.
The board of governers will be so disgusted with the situation that they will revoke Edmontons franchise.
In the dispersal draft the canucks will pick up RNH and Arizona will get Mcdavid.
Arizona will move to Seattle and be a powerhouse.
Canucks will become the new oilers led by RNH to dead last until. ......oh my. ...the bottles empty and the jazz is gone. ...

In a year or two RNH will be holding Dre back from being the 2nd line centre. Dre, I belive, is better suited to that role then RNH. And while RNH will be a 1st line centre he's not gonna be better then Mcdavid. If you wait until you have to trade him you'll get less return then if you trade him now.

Alright I'll try again, much add I'd love to see him on the nucks that ain't happening. So RNH to Nashville for Shea Weber. Maybe I'd you throw in Yak you could get them to eat a million in salary and throw in a 2nd round pick.
This would not just solve Edmontons free agent problem but give them a tough as nails team that would push for the cup for the next 10 years.
Nashville would get a pair of high end Youngs forwards to boost their pence.
I think this would be great for both teams by evening or their respective rosters. It would be horrible for the canucks because edmonton would leapfrog them in the standings and Nashville would prevent the crossover.

Discuss?

The oilers aren't trading nuge right now.

And his value isn't going to go down if he continues to develop and get better.
His value will go up

Our GM Loves to include 2nd round picks into trade deals for no reason.

Benning would probably trade down to get two 2nd's, then trade down again and get some 3rd's and trade down again to have like six 4th rounders.

Everyone knows he's gonna be a all star 1st liner. His development isn't going to change that very much. I'm very high. On RNH, I think the more term that is on his contact and the farther from Ufa status that he is, the higher his value. Also in 2 to three years Shea will have been paid all that bonus money and Nashville will be less inclined to trade him. Although on the flip side Shea won't be worth as much either.

The guy is 22.
The oilers are in no panic to deal him asap for fear of him losing value.
Neither are we in any rush to have drausaitl thrown to the wolves as a primary option. He's 19.

If the oilers decide to deal nuge at some point they'll get a great package for him

Who the (frank) is this Horvat guy and why didn't they pick Shinkaruk 9th overall?

Gaunce sucks, another wasted Gillis pick.

Virtanen is a lock for the Canucks this year.

I guess we're anything but experts here......

I see him just like Seth Jones. Your team will be exciting to watch in the next few years. Oiler fans should be very excited.

I seen your new arena last week. Coming along nicely

Because they're both Black Defenders? Nah....Nurse doesn't have the same offensive skills, and Jones isn't as physically aggressive.

Everything that you have said makes sense, however the oilers have historically thrown their young players to the wolves, is how they roll. Your right is probably best to let Dre play in the a for a year and let Mcdavid learn the nhl as a second or third liner. It's not like the oilers are gonna be good enough(sorry tanner) to make the playoffs or pick higher then 10th.😲er 5th. In all honesty nurse should probably prove himself in the A as well.
I'd still trade RNH for Weber in a heart beat, maybe try to get a veteran centre to take the heat off the kids with Yak, balance the lineup. If Mcdavid is as good as he is said to be then he should be as good as RNH next year of not already.

Same thoughts as you but I just watched the highlight package. Goalies are going to have to learn they don't get help in Van ever. Been that way since like 1999 haha.

I thought it was pretty embarrassing how bad the canucks prospects looked.

Virtanen had flashes but his getting involved in every single scrum is getting pretty annoying.

Subban was the only player that looked good

The rest of the defense were straight garbage.

- classic321

Canucks basically sent AHL players and Jr players against 3 top 6 NHL ready players. This happens every Young Stars tourney and we panic.

Oilers have drafted high year after year, and we haven't . I don't know what result you were expecting.

Virtanen was body checking. I know as a Canuck fan we are not use to it and some fans here are down right against it. The checks were from the front , hard , and he stood up for teammates. Sorry he didn't go run and hide in the corner like the last decade of Canucks, but I for one love his game.

I agree, but I still think Gaunce is more ready than Virtanen based upon last night's game. JV needs to learn that there's a time and place for everything and that if he's going to be that physical he needs to know when to engage after the whistle and when to back off before the refs have enough and start sending him directly to penalty box.

I liked Subban, he's a smaller, maybe more skilled Jyrki Lumme and we haven't had a D-man that can carry the puck like that in a while. Hutton was ok, but man, the rest of the D were pylons and that goalie looked like he was way over his head.

I think Gaunce was noticeable from the goal on. He had stretches in the first where he was invisible. He was one of the best players after that. JV I noticed every shift.

I don't find anything wrong with having two players close to NHL ready.

I think JV is better than Kenins and replacing Higgins with a Gaunce or Grenier is also something I would like to see.

Subban was ok, I didn't think he was outstanding or anything
