In hindsight I wonder if it would have been better to have paid UFA money to Sekera and (probably) be done shopping for D. I believe he got a little over 5 a year for 5 or 6 years - we could have easily done that as we won't have cap concerns for a few years (and at that time 5+ a year won't be too bad).

The LH D UFA's next year aren't all that great, or the following year. The Flames will probably re-sign Russell. Yandle is it. The following year it doesn't look all that great as the big names- Hedman and Kulikov will re-sign most likely. I would say if we're going for a LD next few years it will come through a trade.

The following year it doesn't look all that great as the big names- Hedman and Kulikov will re-sign most likely. I would say if we're going for a LD next few years it will come through a trade.

If they need help between then and now, plug it with a sage vet for a year or 2.

And, I'm looking forward to seeing McCabe up at he end of the year...I think he will surprise a lot of fans!

I think unless they win one of the three lottery spots they trade their pick. There's really no point in being as aggressive as Murray has been just to take a guy who will probably be 3 years away from being a top 4 guy on the team.

With the Franson signing, he'll be in Rochester. At least until the injury bug bites. But with the amount of guys they have now, that bug will have to bite pretty damn hard before he'll get the nod.

Let's not move anyone yet, let's see what we have.
I think we are now approaching a point where our prospect pool is thinning out, so I like to see us continue to build through the draft, and UFA's.
