In SJ and FLA he was mainly playing 4th line mins.
Last year he was getting 16:30 a game and was that teams 3rd leading scorer. - dadeadhead
If we didn't have legwand, mcCormick, and Gionta
I'd kick that tire

That may have been top-line minutes as that team really stunk. On a good team he is a checking center. Either way... not too surprising as he has to be getting up there. - Slump Buster
4th in EVTOI with 14:32 and 7th in PPTOI with 1:54.
14 of his 34 points came on the pp. |

You seriously can't tell me that Matt Ellis is a good hockey player. And on nights when him and Kaleta are playing and Bailey and Carrier/Schaller are healthy scratches, that would just suck imo. We just can't cut the chord with these bums. Matt Ellis is useless. His role is better suited being behind the bench in Rochester as a coach. |

A guy my friend works with was in 1st and would have won $10,000. Carlos Hyde screwed him. He ended up 2nd and got $6,000 instead. |

Ellis's role in Rochester is to teach the kids how to be a pro, not how to be a good hockey player. |

You have to have vets in the A for the younglings.
As long as he and Kaleta remain on AHL only deals, I see no problem.
Neither in any way should see the light of day on an NHL roster ever again. |

every decent AHL team has a few guys like him on the roster
I am fine with him down there, as long as he stays down there

That's how I feel about it too, but I guess it's easy for us to say that being that we're not the ones that missed out on that extra 4k. |

I don't get that mentality.
Yeah he could have won 4 grand more but the what if game goes both ways. He could have won zero too.
Take the 6 grand and run. |

Well this board would be boring if we all agreed all the time. I just think Ellis is useless and playing guys like him and Kaleta means some of the kids will be healthy scratches. I don't like that. Cunneyworth can do the teaching as well. We don't need both Kaleta and Ellis playing there.

Everyone ends up a healthy scratch at times during the AHL season. It's the nature of them having 3 games in 3 nights. |
