I've never heard our management refer to the Detroit model. Tha'ts just a cliche that floats around... Linden has many times referred to the Boston model...
Jake did well physically against men in pro already. - boonerbuck

JV is here for the season. Its a waste of breath to talk about him in any other light.
Kenins will be the odd man out. hard worker but limited upside. JV is a 2nd line winger by the all-star break.... - chompsey
You may be right. Or not. I'm probably one of the few who don't think he'll be here for the season. He's going to be an NHL'er for sure. But one tourney with one point in 3 games doesn't sound like a lock to me. But he is physically ready and he can hit.
Why are you afraid? Canucks have tried the skill way and got their asses handed to them most years . Why not try the other way . What do you have against team toughness?
See, makes no sense with out a counter argument. - Retinalz
His argument was almost as bad. Stewart was a marginal CHL player, players usually take lesser roles in the NHL unless they played on a really stacked team.

Have you ever heard of a late bloomer?
This isn't Bennings first try at this. He did it in Boston also . He has remoulded a couple of players and turned them into 4 th line NHLers from defence .
You are still under the impression Benning is trying to build a skilled team?
He wants a team that everyone hates to play against and mixing in a few scorers - VANTEL
Really hope Benning isn't trying to go with the 2011 Bruins model. I think that sort of team, at least a successful version of it, is almost impossible to construct in a deliberate manner. A lot of luck is required.

He wouldn't have selected Boeser if he was trying to recreate the Boad Street Bullies, he would have chosen Bitner

Exactly. The kid started at age 11. Nucker, if you played hockey you would know you need some tough players. Gritty guys that can occasionally drop the gloves allow the skilled players to worry about what they do best. Score goals
