Playing in the Q against boys....but no one will know who the better pick was for 3-4 years anyways. - CanuckDon
If they had similar numbers I'd definitely give the edge to the WHL guy but it wasn't close. |

Gaunce blows - maybe he'll cut it one day as a 4th liner
love the promise of Virtanen, seeing it come to fruition like it appears to be really makes last season look like waste for the nucks
A bottom 5 finish and netting a Strome/Hanafin/Marner would have the Canucks so much more ahead in the long term than a 1st round exit did
Time will tell - TheGame316
Gaunce will be a 3rd liner.
I think McCann will make the team as well as Gaunce. |

Late bloomers are going against the odds, that's what separates the smart teams from the stupid ones. Why not just draft the guy who's already outplaying the potential "late bloomer"? - Nucker101
This is a bone head comment. It's not like projecting future talent is an exact science. Development isn't linear. |

You got three rookies making the team? Virt, McCann, and Gaunce? Who gets bumped to make room. |

EDM's top picks aren't the problem, do you think they'd be better with Seguin/Landeskog/Murray? - Nucker101
The Seguin,/ball debate is no more. Seguin is considerably better. And they (the early 1st picks) have their share of the blame. There is more to the game them offense. Hall, Yaks and Ebs are all pathetic 2_way players |

I don't think Virtanen will make it. I don't think the canucks will want him on the 4th line |

Yet every study done shows that drafting higher point producers leads to better drafting rather than trying to find these "late bloomers". Going against the odds isn't smart. Especially for forwards. |

I don't know about that.
With WD splitting up time fairly evenly, it might be a good way to ease him into the bigs.
I believe Kesler started on the 4th line. |

Of course their not perfect but the bugger problem has always been EDM's horrible depth. So many of the players that were once regulars in their lineup over the last 5 years aren't even in the league anymore. |

And Kesler was a very good defensive player. And we know what Willie expects |

Find me one that says that it's not smart to draft junior forwards who produce the most. |

So Virt goes back to junior? He's already played 8 pro games last season against men and did alright. What will juniors do for him? Please don't use the 'dominate at that level is good for confidence' line. I don't buy it... |

See the post above, he called my post boneheaded and hen suggest that Higgins/Hansen will be sitting out. Both are better players than Vey/Prust/Dorsett |

Virt didn't score much last yr. He didn't score basically at all in pro. Imo his offensive development would be helped in Jr. |

A forth line of Dorsett/Vey/JV could provide a good forecheck with some skill. You could rely on the 3rd line for defensive responsibilities.
I guess it depends on what you expect from the 4th. |

Higgins and Hansen will fight and hit more then Prust or dorsett as well I bet. And are much younger then Vey. Vet is older then Higgins because benning made the trade for him I guess |
