I'd also like to know when the guys he mentioned are due for a new contract. Because the next one for each will be considerably higher, I'd imagine. - funmaster18
Seabrook is a UFA next summer and will likely get $7m+ so it might be his last season in Chicago.
Keith might be on the best of all the cap circumventing deals. Him or Jeff Carter. |

Not sure it's a circumvention, but the Ryan McDonagh deal is a sweet one, too. |

I have a question that I'm hoping all participates in answering but I'm hoping I'm to get the short one to two word response, instead of the long response.
Who is better? Who would you take right now over the other? Claude Giroux or Jake Voracek? |

I think innocent until proven guilty. So as long as there is only an investigation, the player should be able to attend camp, even though I agree with MJL that it is in poor taste.
If there are formal charges brought forward, then I think at that point the player should be suspended indefinitely until a verdict is reached. At that point, a long term decision is made. - funmaster18
Here is the can of worms. Even before charges were brought against Mike Richards, his contract was blown up. We know that the Voynov situation was treated differently. Is Chicago going to tear up Kane's contract? Don't hold your breath.

If Hakstol's lack of NHL experience was the issue, why did you bring up Brett Hextall? The two things are unrelated.
Hiring a college coach he barely knew was a very bold move. Just as bold as Toronto hiring a president who had no experience running an NHL team. - Feanor
How's Chip Kelly's lack of NFL experience working out? |

Not to mention that the only reason Keith's cap hit is 5.538M is because there is a bunch of years on the end of low money, and the deal was front loaded. If we want to make an apples to apples comparison, the first 6 years of Keith's deal were worth 46,750,000, which would translate to an AAV of 7,791,666. |

It's working out just fine. I hear it can bench 420 pounds. |

I agree, but I think there is something to be said for getting as many of the questions out of the way now, because once they go on the road, he'll have other teams' media to deal with, etc.
i think it's going to be a circus no matter what. - johndewar
A team's PR people can handle that. Reporters and beats should know that if there is an ongoing investigation, Kane won't, and can't comment. All of that should be off limits to the media, after they hold this press conference.

Thank you to the two gentlemen who responded. I love Jake but based on this summer of threads I've read, I thought I was losing my mind. I expect Jake to remain an elite winger this season but his season reminds me of when Corey Perry when from scoring 30 regularly to 50. There were questions if Perry is better than Getzlaf. He isn't. |

One difference between th Richards is the Kings may have known he was arrested where Kane was being investigated. I get what you're saying though |

You can be arrested, and still be innocent.

if a cop arrests you for possessing drugs, it usually means they are being held illegally. Unless you have a prescription. If he had that, why would he be arrested? Not sure how you come out innocent there |

I've been arrested and found innocent but drugs is still pretty cut and dry. |
