is he still playing in the KHL? probably isn't any worse than Ocho Cinco
- IndianaSabresFan

No, he hasn't played since the 2010-2011 season.

Happy Training Camp Day!!!

I assume it's "moving in" and physical day today...but damn is it good to have hockey kicking into gear. Just 4 days til preseason!

I keep going back and forth about this. In some ways, I think it would be beneficial for him to spend a little time there. But at the same time, I'd like to let him grow here. I'm going to wait until he gets some preseason time before I pick which one is better for him at this point. I need to see what he can do against other NHLers first.

It's a tough call. I'm in the camp that giving him games in the AHL, play lots of minutes, build his confidence can only help him when he gets called up. The AHL is an excellent league and a good starting point for him. If he's stuck playing 3C or wing here and gets 10 mins a night it can't be a huge benefit in his development.

Listening to Girgs on HH yesterday it sounded like he prefers to play C as opposed to wing. Maybe he goes to 3C and Reinhart finds a spot on the wing in the top 6.

If he shows he belongs and gets sent down to keep one of McSpice, Legwand, or Foligno here it will be a shame.

I pray that Dan Bylsma does not have the same philosophy as the former coach of this franchise when it comes to playing younger players.

We divided up our seasons last night. Got the 2 games I really wanted. The home opener and the Oilers game.

It would be a good learning experience as well because the AHL is a more physical league. If he can handle that, he'll be fine here.

He does. He's said it before and Hamilton said that Murray has mentioned that they'd like to leave Girgs at C. But, you never know how things play out. Someone may need to play out of position for a bit, at least this year until guys get acclimated.

Remember the days when this team took wingers and prayed one of them could morph into a center like a monkey throwing poop at the wall and hoping it stuck? I like this situation better.

we have too many young centers though.. girgs, o'reilly, eichel, reinhart.. someone needs to play wing. i am fine with Girgs as 3rd line center, because if that is where he fits it means we have a pretty solid top 6.

i relish the days of Hecht being a center and even though it only happened once but having Mair center the top line.. the good ole days

Didn't Pommer's best season come with Hecht as his center?

Hecht was actually the least offensive of that whole experiment by a mile.

If Reinhart sticks, I think by the end of the year you see Eichel as the 1C, Reinhart as the 2C, and Girgs as the 3C.

In the meantime, you're going to see a lot of guys shifted around and a lot of different line combinations until they figure out what works best.

He was good for 15-20 goals a year. Not exactly terrible. Especially considering that we only had 1 guy score more than that this past season.

Wait are teddy bridge and carr still on the level or did they drop from franchise level gerbe?
- lung3r

I don't know what you're getting at here..

So one bad game does not make them a franchise quarterback ? Got it

I think he meant offensive to the mind, not offensive in hockey terms.

I loved Hecht. Wasn't his fault they put him on lines higher than maybe he should have been, but that guy was a solid NHLer.

Oh, I know. I was actually supporting his argument.
