If McCann or Cassels or someone else, maybe Gaunce, looks better than Vey as a fourth line center option do you think Benning would be willing to cut bait with him?
He's proven to NOT be adverse to change if he thinks whats there isn't working. - LeftCoaster
I think it more depends on Vey's play or fitness then the players you mentioned.
Vey has mentioned in a few articles that he has been working out a lot this year in order to get stronger, if he was successful I think it will be too soon to cut him loose.
If he shows up to camp and has not shown he worked enough to improve this aspect of the game and one of those other players looks ready then I could see him being risked through waivers. |

I think Vey will get his shot...but will be a short leash. |

That's a good point, Vey likely does get start the season as 4C but if he struggles the Canucks can look at Gaunce/Cassels/Jones etc. further into the season, McCann obviously not. |

I wouldn't shed a tear, but don't think JB will expose him to waivers if a trade isn't possible. |

Subban just donated $10 million to children's Hospital in Montreal over 7 years.....
That is incredible and very impressive. Hopefully it help convince other superstars to give generously. - belcherbd
With the taxes in Quebec this has to be a great business move. |

Now that would be a waste of an asset.
what's wrong with giving him another year. He's shown a history of taking a while to getting used to a new level of hockey. Had big jump in stats in jr and the AHL after his first year.
plus there's no rush. Cassels could use a bit of time in the AHL and McCann is going back to Jrs for sure |

I don't think this was apart of his decision at all. As much as a personality PK is, I think his parents raised him and those boys to give back. Very classy move by him. |

+1. Vey was thrown into a big role last year I think. First unit PP to start the year. Hes trained hard and his 1 year contract will be a good test for him. Give him a chance and let him prove he can score 15-20 goals (which I think he could very well do). |

I actually agree but if he sucks early then his spot on this roster should be in question. |

Like Belcher said,,, Canucks *can* make 100 points but *not likely* imo.
83 points? Depends...
Sure,,, if Benning guts the team for picks and the Canucks cant hardly win a game after the trade deadline. With this roster... I think they definitely break 90 points.
On Vey... I doubt he's a bust but I think his role will be replaced by better players who offer more. I don't see him on our roster after this season. |

I was answering Lefty's question. If one of the young guns pushes a vet out, who is most likely to go. |

First time I've said this in awhile, but I agree with you. |

Will the team achieve a 100 points? very unlikely.
That said, Benning would NOT be doing his job if he didn't set the bar at least as high as last year's performance. He's also telling the team that there will be no tank job by management this year and he expects the players to fight, scratch & claw (or bite) themselves into the playoff$. |

Hey Carol, I feel your pain. Spent 3 hours in the dentist chair this morning getting a temporary crown. He said to take Advil this afternoon, but I went with Irish Whiskey instead.
I think Vey will have at least half a season to prove himself worthy of a roster spot. He was a good AHL player and may just need more time to find his game. Not sure if the 4th line is the best place for him though. He might just not be a good fit on the way this team has been built. |

Exactly, what's he going to say to the MSM? "I think we'll be lucky crack 90 points Bob." Not going to happen.
With so many contracts expiring or on RFA this year, where this team sits at the TDL will determine the next few years of the Canucks. Really kind of hoping we suck this season. |

One thing Linden did say this morning on the 1040 was if he thought Gaunce was Canucks best prospect this tourney. He replied "yes, I believe so", but later said he expects Gaunce to start in Utica , but to be called up some time this year.
He also said Hutton was our best D |

Once the injury bug hits Gaunce should get a shot. I don't see Gaunce on the opening day roster.
What have you heard on Jensen? |

He is ready to go. Linden was very candid and gave opinions on multiple players. He also said Jensen is not waiver eligible until next year , not this year. He said last year was an up and down year.
He expects him to make a good effort to make the Canucks but hinted it could be a make or break year , when Blake Price asked him if Jensen was getting surpassed |

With a little patience and development Mike Gillis's last couple of drafts may not turn out to be as bad as projected.
Gaunce, Hutton, Cassels, Shinkaruk and perhaps Suban all have a chance to play some NHL minutes...and then of course there's Horvat. |
