GOD that Bonino trade still just infuriates me.
- classic321
I was angrier when we traded Hodgson for Kassian (shows what I know) and way angrier when we hired Torts (hey, I was right!). I was also angrier after every offseason and TDL that we didn't trade Luongo (still not over that), enraged when we traded Schnieder (Bo Horvat Doe!) and ironically really annoyed when we finally did trade Luongo. The Bonino deal doesn't even really register. |

Yeah I guess the only part that really makes me mad is trading a 2nd round pick for a 3rd.

I think he wants Miller to mentor Markstrom who is the goalie of the next 7 years for this team - VANTEL

It's a minor thing but the fact he's also willing to bend in these deals makes it annoying. It'd be fine if once in awhile he got the other GM to do it but that's not the case. |

He definitely seems to favour an open leg policy when it comes to second round picks. |

Actually I used the wrong term. I don't see Miller sharing info that will later have him replaced. I see him holding the fort foe two years |

Again....why? He wasn't a good second line option at center. I'm NOT a huge Brandon Sutter supporter but he's faster, he had three times as many hits as Bonino, he's better on the dot and he's younger. |

I think Sekeres brought reality to Canucks D for this upcoming season. He said Bartowski only has to be better that Bieksa was last year, who had a really tough year. Then he finished it by saying and Sbisa only has to be better than Sbisa was last year , and said how hard can that be?
He fully expects the D to be an improvement this year - VANTEL
We are slightly better on D this year with Corrado and Bartkowski slotting in vs Clendening/Bieksa/Stanton. But it is slight. Bieksa and Stanton were and absolute mess last season and they just could not afford the risk of keeping them here plus for what we were getting out of Bieksa his salary was insane. Sbisa will be Sbisa but Edler/Tanev/Hamhuis should be a solid top 3 to start the year here...until they all go down with injury of course... |

Funny....Stanton looked ok under that Torts fella, then he looked terrible last year. Strange how some guys can thrive or play well under certain coaches while the majority of the team falters. |

Sutter fills all the needs we had for 2LC right now that Bonino couldn't accomplish. 200' game and good on draws. Great on PK and defensively responsible and will flirt with 20 goals. Will play in the tough areas. Sutter hasn't missed more than 5 games over the past 5 seasons either so he is not injury prone (knock on wood) The only thing we will miss with Bonino is that awesome snapshot. We are not going to miss Bonino not scoring for 3 months at a time. |

Yes agreed Stanton had good moments under Torts...but 'OK' isn't going to cut it for him going forward. Agreed Last year his weaknesses really showed IMO |

Ya I kinda like that Benning cuts bait when he sees things not working. Bonino had 7 goals in the first 14 games and then 8 in the next 50+ games...that's not acceptable for a second line center. |

Both great contracts ....I wonder how these will affect the two flames kids ?
If Bo has better year than next year what is his offer this summer ? |

There wasn't any type of quick transition game from the defense to the forwards under Torts, more of a "defend" mode, which Stanton was ok at. But when it comes to quick transition he wasn't very good at that. |

- contrary to popular belief, most, and I stress most, NHL GM's know what they're doing more so than the internet GM's. |
