Same. In general he looked faster, smoother. We have a few young players that i'm excited about in the future. I think over the next couple of years we will see a much different Flyers team.

I think the Flyers will be a better team than we expected this year. There, I said it.

I think you will see more teams moving to an attacking offense that will have a 3rd line that brings more offense than the traditional shutdown line. Maybe not 60 points from your 3C, because there will not be enough PP time to go around, but the capability of reaching 60 points.

Playing Devil's advocate, rate the following groups of Centers in TWO years. There obviously is a little projection you have to do here.

Edmonton - McDavid, RNH, Draisatl
Buffalo - Eichel, ROR, Reinhart

When you consider ice time and utilization, if your 3C is in a position to score 60 points, you either have a problem with your entire top six, or you've got a team for the ages.

Those teams have stockpiled high picks for years and used them to select young centers. Of course those team are going to look stronger.

I would like the Flyers to have another center as good or better than Couts, but for this season, they're better off with Laughton as 3C. That's all I'm saying.

yeah, this kind of got away from what I was getting at with my post, which was that at some point Laughton is going to need NHL experience to further his development as a player. It's not like we're still sliding his ELC anymore.

He's going to be fine. Just give him regular minutes in the top 9. Not sure why people would rather use players like Umberger and Vinny in the top 9 instead of seeing what Laughton has to offer.

It's better to give Lecavalier some kind of chance to see if he can still play, rather than just relegate him to the press box. Laughton can be sent down, Lecavalier given a chance, and if he fails, Laughton can be called up. It's about options. The potential downside is the Flyers need to get off to a fast start.
