It would basically go against what they have said since day 1 though (I know as Leafs fans that's hard for us to imagine).
If he stays with the Maries he can:
Get prime minutes.
Create chemistry with the next wave of Leafs (who's responsibility is to get us out of this mess)
Stay away from the media (somewhat)
Stay away from a losing environment
Develop as a player and get bigger
Allow the Leafs to probably draft higher
Learn how to be a centre in North America
Allow others to try and have a good season to flip for picks
I don't think you understand the Shanaplan. ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) - walshyleafsfan
the model is so very clear
and any vets on these cheap one year deals having a good season will be flipped at the deadline for more futures

Ooops, I actually just misread the original post - thought he had written that he thought Willie was going to start with the Leafs.
I need a drink.
P.S. Agree with everything you wrote above. |

If they're within striking distance of the playoffs in a Sellers market. I would still expect them to trade some expiring contracts. |

Know what's (frank)ed?
A couple months ago I was living in Wilno... I was living in a house beside the house where that lady was found dead yesterday.. it's a beautiful little town, but with like literally 100 people living there. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Sorry is there a news story that I'm missing? What's f'd about finding a dead body in a town filled with older people?
Was she killed? |

That's the big difference. Last night was Marner's first ever game against pros. Last year Nylander developed against men, and this year Marner will stay with the kids. He won't be as ready next year as Willie is this year. - Schennski
I think everyone is looking into this too much... after only 1 game playing with Nylander we really have no clue where he is at in his development. I don't believe size is as big of an issue as people make it, you just need to be strong. I think they would be stupid to send Nylander back to the Marlies and I think they won't. |

Yup. And if we do need a call up it will be Carrick, Leivo, Percy, Brennan, Rupert, Bailey, Hyman et al making the jump i. e. Prospects that don't really matter.
I'm not sure of what Shanny, Babcock and Dubas have said that is causing all this confusion |

Oh there's a chance.
I've been thinking that way since they signed babs and bobby Mac even echoed the same feeling yesterday on radio
As I've always said I don't think the leafs are into a slow rebuild like some fans assume |

actually believe that if they(ShanaLouCock) break away from the patient build plan...
many long suffering Leaf fans will simply adopt other teams - finally.
but not the Sens or the Canucks. |

Not a heckuva lot of quality players about to be UFAs:
Grabner
Matthias
Spaling
Parenteau
Arcobello
Frattin
Polak
Reimer
Grabner and Matthias might get you something.
Polak might get you a ham sandwich.
Goalies traditionally get you nothing at the TDL.
Maybe we sign a PTO or two, but I don't see any of them getting much in return. |

nothing.. they have been very very very clear
people just get hard ons for prospects and wanna see them in a leafs sweater as soon as possible
then they will have all this "logic" as to why its the best for them
players are like wine.. they get better once they have been aged a bit |

Oh for eff's sakes, AA - take off the blue-coloured glasses and quit chugging the Kool-aid.
Marner is a bust! Busty McBusterson.
How many more chances are you going to give this stiff?
I'm sick of Leafs apologists like you defending every piece of garbage on this club. |

they (again ShanaLuoCock) should consider taking on more prospects rather than purely draft picks.... when moving the PTOs/upcoming FAs at the tradedeadline
the thinking here is perhaps a slow developing guy on another club who they may have knowledge of from their junior days... like they did with Leipsic.
on that theme it will be interesting to see if Freakerenko turns his career around with the Avs... seemed to have worn out the welcome in Buffalo.
