I think it's a foregone conclusion this will happen. He's also trying to swing a Clarkson for Horton deal. The sticking point is who gets the 1st round pick. Teams aren't sure who's getting it

You can kind of tell somewhat, I think Nylander was better last year too, compared to Marner right now. He just has this natural way of playing, its fluid, you can see that he's going to be a real player. He's noticeable when he's out on the ice, almost like he's been in the league for years, even last year.

Not saying Marner isn't going to be great, just think Nylander will be the Leafs best player for years to come.

Given how many rumours have leaked from the Leafs lately, I think this is more or less just a guess on Freidman's part, or on the part of the sources. Especially since the rumour doesn't say "trying to" acquire him, but that he'd "like to".


I too would be OK with acquiring him at 50% retained for a conditional 7th rounder.
