no, they arent

we glorify the prospects way too much.

look at how everyone just loved Leivo and figured he should be a top candidate for the leafs....Babcock doesnt agree obviously as he was in the first round of cuts.

our conception of some of these kids is that will come in and light it up.. they dont.. never do either.. every time they get a chance they show potential, but its just potential.. the guys on the leafs are better hockey players right NOW. no question... the prospects have POTENTIALLY higher ceilings.. but have come nowhere close to reaching them.

keep those kids buried for a couple more years.. let babcock establish his systems and get the vets playing them to a tee so that when a kid is finally brought up, the transition will be seamless

If a player is ready, he is ready. If that player is your best option at a position, then so be it. Its not forcing a player because there is no other option, its because he earned it over someone else. Handing a roster spot to someone not deserving is repeating what has happened year after year here.

And neither he nor Santo hardly even played! One thing Burke was dead on about was July 1st and the deadline 7 when GMs go bonkers and lose their mind.

Yet he never took advantage of this with expiring contracts like MacArthur, Kulemin, etc.

i would agree with this if the goal was to have a successful season

but that isnt the goal

the goal is to establish a work ethic, systems, and the atmosphere the leafs are going to work within moving forward

so.. the kids who may have more talent would be wasted being applied to this years, and quite possibly next years team blue print.

LL said it himself.. if we think a kid is ready we will probably send him back to the AHL for some more time.

On a totally different note, I'm thinking of taking Washington with the points (+4.5) @ the Giants tonight. Dont trust NY to win by more than a field goal, if at all. Thoughts?

also, it should be noted that when it comes to an overall game i dont believe any of the kids have supplanted any of the NHLers

offensively sure.. two way.. no, not even close.

Leafs where in playoff race...Same would happen this year if they fighting for a playoff spot...Teams dont quit and unload when they have a shot...

You keep players that matter in the future on the Marlies. No point keeping the lost causes on the Marlies. Let them be a stop gap. Only players on the Leafs that matter for the future of the organization is Rielly, Bernier and possibly Gardiner and Kadri.

Exactly. Hence, the 5 for Grabner deal.

That would be a shortsighted shame. Especially if the underlying stats show the team is overachieving.

After three games he has performed better than any PTO there and that is all we have to go on. As the pre season goes on that may change but as of right now, he is better.

Now here is a question for everyone, hypothetically, if Nylanders play forces a trade of Bozak because of it, how would you feel about it?

Yup. When the 2 or 3 big fish get moved, the other GMs start scrambling and before you know it.....
'Anaheim Acquires Grabner for a 2016 2nd and a 3rd in 2017.'

Then......

'Polak and Matthias to Wild for a 1st.'

Watch...

- Phenom

close... but my guess is Polak goes to the Penguins at the deadline - who will need capable d-men going into playoffs.

That's actually the only part that worries me. Beckham Jr. Is head and shoulders better and faster than any individual safety or corner the Skins have. Will be interesting to see who they double up on him with. I think the Skins running game will eat up the Giants d-line though.

i'd be pissed

Nylander belongs on the Marlies learnign his trade

dont subject him to the poop show that will be the leafs this year.. no high end prospect should be anywhere near that.
